Wonderful staff, excellent food with generous portions. Beautiful room and ensuite, the mattress was okay but not mega comfy for our taste, but we'd definitely come back for another visit. The views and surrounding countryside are breathtaking. Comfy pub and very dog friendly too!Wish I could have given 5 star but think there was a mix-up with our meal order on the first night, took nearly an hour before our starters arrived.Definitely worth a visit!

My friend and I called in for a meal on very short notice and even though they had a lot of bookings the staff still managed to fit us in! The food was exceptional and the prices were very reasonable for what we received. Staff were very attentive and polite. We will definitely be back again. Thanks to all the staff at the hare and hound :)

Everything a country pub should be - welcoming, friendly, cosy and delicious food.Possibly the best fish and chips I’ve ever had - super crispy batter (not greasy in the slightest!), fluffy white fish and perfectly cooked fat chips plus homemade tartar sauce, mushy peas and chip shop gravy on the side.I also had a taste of my friend’s beef & ale pie - wow! Can’t wait to go back.

Lovely food. I had the trio of sausage, 3 different locally sourced sausages on a bed of mash, onions, gravy and veg. The sticky toffee pudding and toffee sauce was to die for! Lovely cosy atmosphere, the waitress put the fire on for us too which was a nice touch. There’re dog friendly too which, when you’re in the lakes as a tourist is a massive bonus! They do gluten free meals too. The meringue was lovely, and the steak which my partner had said ‘was on par to a Miller and Carters’

Rarely do I get the time or the motivation to review a stay at an establishment. However, The Hare and Hounds at Bowland Bridge stands head and shoulders above the norm and truly deserves a review.Over the years I have travelled extensively both in the British Isles and Overseas and it is very rare that I find an establishment that one simply cannot find fault.Last week, was my second stay at the Hare and Hounds, Bowland Bridge and it is the perfect overnight stay for when I have been driving South after working in Northern Scotland. The location and everything that this establishment offers presents an ideal and very cathartic stop for me after working away for long periods of time. The problem with the Hare and Hounds Inn is that everything is so professionally created with support from a warm and helpful team, both front and back of house, that it then tempts one to try desperately hard to try and find fault in something.I have a very detailed and critical eye, but I can honestly say that I cannot find fault in any aspect of this wonderful Inn.Thank you Andrew - it was a pleasure meeting you and please pass on to your whole team my sincere thanks and appreciation.SincerelyMartin Smith

I cannot review the rooms as we only stopped by for a meal, but suffice to say, if the excellent ambience/quality of the bar/dining area are anything to go by, I have little doubt the rooms are exemplary. Our meal was of a very high standard indeed, reasonably priced (by present standards....) and the atmosphere and service were excellent. I highly recommend this Inn.

We stayed at The Hare & Hounds for 3 nights during our first trip to the Lake District. Everything about our stay was top notch! The food was exceptional and the best we had during our trip. Specifically, the Steak & Ale Pie and Fish & Chips were among the best I've ever had. So tasty! All the little details were done to perfection. Like the chips.. clearly from high quality potatoes, very earthy taste, double (or triple) fried with the most amazing curry sauce. Breakfast was included and there were plenty of options to avoid having the same thing twice. Again, all delicious. Our room was large and comfortable. Nice mattress with quality bedding. The location is very quiet and I slept very well. Clean bathroom with huge walk-in shower and beautiful, large, free-standing bathtub. The staff were all exceptionally friendly and made everything feel effortless. It was such a cute place! Lots of locals that we saw repeatedly and all very friendly. We loved that some had dogs, as we really missed ours! The little touches were well appreciated - small bottle of milk by the door every morning for our coffee, nice selection of draught beers, the soap in the rooms was incredible (I wanted to take it home!), nice variety of cereals at breakfast.. I could go on..We loved the location. Very quiet, peaceful with beautiful, surrounding fields, but still just a short drive to many Lake District attractions, like Lake Windermere, Cartmel, Ambleside, etc.It was a memorable experience and we are already looking forward to our next stay!

Stayed four nights for a mini honeymoon and we absolutely loved it! Room was clean, cosy & comfortable, we loved the claw-foot bath and plenty tea & coffee. We ate dinner here twice, it was so delicious and staff very attentive, very well priced for the high quality. Thank you Simon, Andrew, Alex, Helen and all staff who made our stay so memorable. We will be back! Rosie & Rob x
