Sheffield Assay Office

Staff are lovely and very helpful, the service is very slow though. I have to chase every parcel every time. 9 working days is a long turn around time. This is a legal requirement which makes it more frustrating as you have no choice but to use the service. Very poor considering they did recruitment at the end of 2021 and still there's no improvement in time scales.I am also staggered by the exorbitant postage costs. I use Royal Mail Special delivery to send my parcels to you, this costs £7.55. I request on my form that you return the parcel using the same shipping method, which you do, but I have to pay £12.50 for the exact same service. More money making seemingly.

Matt, Ashley and the other staff at the Sheffield Assay Office provided excellent customer service and our Gold got tested first and was then sold very quickly through the Office. I can not find the words to describe the level of unprofessionalism shown by the Managing Director of this company. The staff, I have had no issue with, friendly and helpful, the Managing Director on the other hand, rude, and in my opinion self centred and egotistical, extremely dissatisfied with my interactions with this man, and I worry for the staff if he thinks he can speak to customers the way he does.

Happily used SAO for many years. Recently had nothing but problems with them! Guess they're overworked but service is chaotic! Other places are now cheaper and more professional.

I bought in two wedding rings in for hallmarking with the coronation mark, rings were finished, stamped marks and there is no damage to the outer surface. FANTASTIC!
