Great service bit lacking on communication but over all good

Massive thanks again to team thirkells for fantastic service great family ran business....

Bought a car with Thirkell's Garages recently and the heater fan wasn't working so took it back to them and they fixed it no problem in one day. Couldn't recommend enough!

(Conclusion to the situation at the bottom)Took my car here after a knock to my wheel at 15mph. They sorted it, initially was very happy with the experience, however, I noticed my car would veer to the right with my steering wheel straight. I didnt think much of it however, after looking online a while later, it was advised to have it looked at. I Was happy with my initial experience so I decided to bring it back to thurkells even though it was out of my way, they did a wheel alignment and some other job and gave it back to me and said it was fine. Problem persisted, so I took it to another garage as I lost confidence in Thirkells. The 2nd garage showed me how my wheel was loose and after fixing the loose wheel, it was clear on a test drive that my bearing was gone too! Obviously as a customer youd feel a bit hard done by the initial garage, so I called up to ask for some money back or some explanation as to why Ive payed the amount I did without the problem being resolved (car veering to the right when steering wheel is straight). I tried to get to the bottom of the issue in an impersonal objective manner, however, the person I spoke to on the phone took it very personally and started to become quite unprofessional when I suggested that their garage didnt do the job properly (which is just objective when the symptom persists after 2 visits and I take it to another garage to find a wobbly wheel, especially after barely driving the car between visits). He also tried to tell me that the bearing couldnt be damaged from hitting the wheel, which a quick google would tell you is just plain wrong, which suggested to me he was saying anything he could to get me off the phone. Everyone else at the garage has been awesome and im sure its a good garage with other members of staff who are good at what they do, however, my experience was less than ideal.edit: Garage had called me to apologise for the events described previously and worked with me to resolve the situation in a professional manner, which was very appreciated. As such I have changed my rating from 1 to 3.

Used Thirkells a number of times now with different vehicles. Always found to be very helpful and accommodating. Prices are very reasonable to. Now my go to garage for any work needing to be done. A good, honest family run outfit who I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone

Well I`m only sorry that it took me so long to find this `Gem` of a garage. We stumbled upon Thirkell`s whist looking for a car for our daughter. We had a lot of questions and nothing was too much trouble. We bought the Astra Sri which was beautifully prepared. Whilst there I enquired about doing some work on my van. I booked in and what amazing service and pricing. I can`t praise everyone enough.Great to find a Family run business with `traditional values` Alan W

Bought our new car from here and they could not have been more helpful. It's true you but from people not companies. After sales service is also brilliant.

Pleasurable experience dealing with Tommy Thirkell, we purchased a mini clubman it had a few minor issues but where rectified straight away, Tommy is a fair honest man and we are delighted with our car definitely recommended.Cheers Jonny &Julie

Amazing service seen a car owner said take your time have a look at it no pressure into buying it generally salesman rite there got it next day thank you keep the good work up
