I visited Hartlepool recently.This monument in Hartlepool stands as a sad testament to the decadence of Christianity and Christian values in Europe, especially, in England, the main source of Christianity in Africa.Originally a Victorian church, the building was restored" and converted to an art gallery. Hartlepool Art Gallery
When you first walk in I have to admit my thoughts were; is this it? But when I actually start looking round that view changed quickly. The use of the space in the art gallery cum church is excellent. The way the exhibition has been curated and displayed second to none. I don't know how much of this is down to Jonny Hannah, but the current exhibition of shipbuilders and fisherfolk is innovative and of you take the time to read the accompanying texts simply brilliant. Well worth a visit.

Lovely place, had a fab exhibit of photographs on when I visited. I went with my children for a event that Simon Bartram read his book The man on the moon and he then the children all drew aliens. It was a fantastic event and we'll worth going if it's on again and best of all it was free to book. Only thing I didn't like was that we couldn't take drinks from the cafe the the tables in the middle where event was held, they said it was because of insurance purposes.

This is a very pleasant space. Sensitive conversion shows off original church, while providing good spaces to exhibit. Also work of local artists on show & for saleVestry Cafe is a good place for a break and unwind.

Amazing free gallery, the space inside is much bigger than expected, even a cafe inside too. It’s got some great features of the church still visible, like the windows and statues. Seems all of the artwork is for sale which is wonderful.

Always something interesting on display and mostly by local talent. This time, we went to see a small Aardman display which is amazing but we were also entertained by a huge display based on local interest. There's also a cafe and the church building itself is an architectural gem.
