A level Biology Tutor - OCR, AQA, CIE, Edexcel

I went from failing in A-Level Biology to receiving a B in the final exams, I can guarantee that I would have not been able to accomplish this without Tom‘s help. Tom has incredible strategies to explain all topics and concepts in Biology in ways that were easy for me to understand and recall. From a student that really struggled with Biology as a whole and didn‘t think I would even be capable of passing, I would highly recommend Tom as a tutor. :)

Tom as a biology tutor is incredible. He takes the time to ask exactly what is wanted in advance of the session. And then plans a highly relevant session which combines teaching content if needed with application to exam questions. His approach is forensic and my daughter came away with a fresh understanding of each topic they covered. She ended up with an A* which was amazing. Thank you Tom!

Tom developed my understanding of biology to a level high enough so I could achieve the grade I wanted, which I wouldn’t have been able to do on my own.

I am a mature student, self studying A level Biology (OCR A).There are no classroom options for A levels once you're over 19 and so distance learning / self study is the only way to go.Except now there IS a classroom option and that is Tom's weekly classes. Each week he covers a syllabus topic, from the ground up, covering the whole subject and pointing out pitfalls and misconceptions. There are quizes as you go to ensure comprehension and numerous A level questions with specimen answers. The classes last an hour, you may think not very long, but Tom packs a phenomenal amount of information into a comparatively short session. These are zoom classes, there isn't any complicated tech involved and Tom is very approachable after class.You don't have to sign up for the whole series, you can just pick and choose which classes you want to do so there is no pressure, you pay as you go and its stress and hassle free.I can now confidently approach the text books knowing that I have the subject matter covered, it is now just" a case of really thoroughly learning the details and also (of course) finding a centre to do the practicals and take the exams. So to seriously augment self study

Excellent tutor with a vast bank of resources (both for pre-reading, extra knowledge and an extensive set of exam questions for each topic), excellent knowledge relevant to the specification, exam knowledge, tips and beyond specification knowledge too.Mr Whitburn is a great tutor with extensive knowledge and experience who tailors his delivery to you. His lessons include providing contextual knowledge and information around a subject to deepen your understanding and help you retain information. He has made many difficult biology concepts easy to understand with his thorough explanations and exam question walkthroughs. He is also very helpful outside of lessons. If I struggle with any exam questions or have any general questions, he replies promptly and in-detail. It really is an all-in-one package!I am very grateful to have found him as a tutor and would definitely recommend Mr Whitburn to anyone who wants to excel in biology.EDIT: Would like to add that I got an A* and am currently studying medicine as a result thanks to Mr Whitburn. I personally struggle a lot with A level Biology, however the way that Tom describes and explains each topic has made it very easy for me to understand and I have been seeing improvements already in my results. Tom always makes sure that the following lesson is a topic that all students in the group are wanting to cover to make it relevant to us. He is always happy to help when needed and was able to provide me with a huge amount of practice questions prior to one of my exams. I am also very grateful that Tom goes over how to correctly answer exam questions in the tutor group and allows us to interact and write answers for him to check in the moment.

Tom has been amazing! He explains concepts clearly and methodically. The use of a virtual whiteboard allows him to draw clear diagrams and annotate practice questions. He is really nice, easy going and happy to answer any questions. He uses many past paper questions (and the mark schemes) to help you learn the content but also the way the exam board wants you to phrase the answer. His A level group learning lessons were also really helpful as we went through topics that I did not necessarily think I needed help on, but they filled gaps in my knowledge. He has been so amazing and has helped me get an A*! Thank you Tom!

Tom has been brilliant with my son and has really helped him with his understanding of the A level course. He is excellent at explaining things and builds knowledge around topics so my son has a greater understanding of the concept. He has lots of additional resources too, which my son has found really useful.Tom also videos the sessions which are then available to view afterwards. My son is dyslexic and so prefers revising from videos and visual material rather than books and so has found this invaluable as he prepares for his exams. The videos are all clearly labelled with the topics they covered so he could go back and use them again and again,And from a parent perspective, Tom is incredibly organised with the sessions which makes life easier. Dates are booked in in advance, links and reminders are sent automatically and he invoices at the end of the month which saves you from having to remember to pay in advance each week.Would really recommend Tom to anyone who needs help with biology A level. My son has made a huge amount of progress and has grown in confidence over the sessions which has made an impact on his grades.

I find the A level Biology group tutoring sessions extremely beneficial and effective to consolidating my understanding on topics. The focus the sessions have on understanding biological concepts and how to correctly answer past paper questions has really helped me. Through actively attending the group tutoring sessions my Biology grades are quickly improving from Cs to As. I would recommend the A level Biology group tutoring sessions to any student needing that extra push and guidance (like myself) to achieve the best grade possible in A level Biology.
