Mr Hywel Dafydd

I had a really good experience with Dr Dafydd. Extremely knowledgable and personable. Felt very comfortable and would highly recommend.

Procedure: excision of ganglion located near the middle finger joint.Location: Sancta Maria Hospital, Swansea.Experience: From start to finish Dr Hywel Dafydd has provided me with outstanding patient experience.During the assessment he went through the details and provided possible risk and solution of the surgery if I chose to have the surgery. He also showed me scans of my ganglion. He was very open to and encouraged any questions I had, and answered them with precise details. He provided me with his contract details and was very quick to respond even during the night, I was surprised. I have not seen any doctor so patient orientated.During the day of the surgery Dr Hywel Dafydd was very reassuring, checked how I was feeling before the surgery, drew out the plan for the nurse to inject the local anaesthesic on my hand. He checked on me after that procedure was completed. During the surgery he gave me the option to watch the excision of the ganglion from my hand, which I chose not to. He ensured I was comfortable and checked all the staff and tools were prepared. The surgery was painless and lasted 7 mins, I was very impressed. Immediately after the surgery he gave the plan for my recovery given to the nurse to write on my clinical note and a copy given to me.He called after few days to check on me and see if I needed any further support, and gave me the option for another assessment to see my recovery and to provide details of the ganglion which was taken out, which I chose. However, I received the letter from the hospital few days after the appointment date. But on that day the Dr called to check on me, and did a telephone consultation. I provided photos via sms to him and he responded and provided further accurate information about my wounds and the time it would take to recover. I now have very minimal scar which is hardly noticeable and still recovering.My experience was amazing, I am glad my GP referred me to him, I would highly recommend him.

I had the pleasure of being treated by Mr Hywel Dafydd after discovering a Cyst and bony prominence on my index finger 2 years ago as I did not like the appearance cosmetically, he removed the Cyst and underlying bone. He was very professional and talked me through the pros and cons of the surgery and informed me every step of the way. Unfortunately, 5 months later a new bony island appeared in a different part of the joint and I am yet to see any improvement to the scar formation and maturation 8 months later unless I pick away at the skin, it just seems to be quite thick and red. I will probably have to have more surgery again later down the line, quite disappointing as I was expecting to get my old finger back! A.G.E doesn't come alone and I'm only 53. Mr Dafydd did inform me I may not get a cosmetic improvement, but it was a chance I took.

I had my finger joint replaced, which was very painfull before treatment with athritus, but after mr Dafydd replaced my finger joint I am now pain free, there was no pain whatsover in having the treatment, and it was only a few hours to complete the procedure , I have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending Mr Dafydd to anyone thinking of using Mr Dafydd as a surgeonPhilip George
