Bound by Veterans

I have had the privilege of enjoying a number of courses with this amazing Charity. I've made a number of hard bound books on the introductory course run by Wendy Lagden at the Royal Maritime Hotel in Portsmouth via Veterans Outreach Support. I attended a 1 day course called the Art of The Book at Daffodil Barn, in Pewsey. Just recently I've also completed the 5 day C&G 118 Book Binding Introduction course where we made a variety of different bound books from a simple single section soft bound journal through to a Multi-Section Cloth bound book, under the expert and very patient tuition of Mylyn McColl. Mylyn is a wonderful font of all knowledge with regards to book binding, and questions were answered quickly and there were plentiful demonstrations and hands on one-to-one help when required. Nothing was too much of a bother, and her feedback on the bindings we produced, enable myself and the other attendees to improve our skills over the five days. The Course is hard work, but the joy of producing wonderful and beautiful functional items is such a joy. We were also given a tour of the Shepard's Bindery, on site which gave us an amazing insight into the world of high end custom book production and the amazing tools that are used to produce quality books.Thank you so much. I will be returning to carry on my new learning journey.
