Old Station Car Park
If you get there early enough, you can park on the roadside for free, but however if you need to park in the car park, then expect to pay £7 for more than a 6 hour stay. If you go weekends you can struggle to find a space.

We parked here then walked up Old Man of Coniston. It's exactly as you'd expect, a car park to be! It cost about £7 for a days parking!

I arrived early to hike the old man of coniston and there were plenty of spaces available. Cost for all day was £8.50 but shorter times were available for less. Machine accepts contactless. On returning the car park was completely full and more arriving looking to find a space.

small but if you get there early in the morning not a problem. you only pay for parking between 9 and 5 plus there's contactless payment so you can pay with your phone or contactless card.

Spaces for 25 cars or so. Watch out for tree branches if parking a campervan. £4.50 for 4 hours or £7 for 9 hours. Took us 5 hours to do Old Man of Coniston so bear that in mind when paying. Pay by wireless or app which was simple enough. No bins in the area.Incredibly steep hill going up to trailhead on Walna Scar. Add on 20 minutes each way to your hike. You won’t make it up to Walna Scar car park if in motorhome / large campervan.

Reasonable price but big jump in hours. Up to 2, 2-4 then 9 hours. Need something inbetween. Doable but VERY steep walk to the start of old man of coniston!

Awful machines. Unable to use the card reader as it refused to issue a ticket. Had to resort to the ringo app which I luckily able to as my tech savvy daughter was present. An attack against the elderly (who paradoxically have more spare cash than the younger generations with children and a mortgage. Your loss.

Old Station Car Park
£7 for 9 hours, which should give you plenty of time to hike the old man or coniston. If your car can take it, I'd recommend the two car parks on Walna Scar Road (one car park is free but there are big pot holes the size of moon craters and the other is more expensive than the old station car park) as the walk from the old station car park to the starting point is a hike itself! Happy with the car park though, you can pay with card and if you get there early enough should get a spot.
