The Budokwai

The Budokwai is truly amazing. I would totally recommend it. There are changing rooms, showers and a sauna avalible for use, with world-class instructors who teach five different martial arts: Judo, Karate, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Aikido and Hontai Yoshin Ryu-Ju-Jutsu. There are also guest practinioner classes, such as yoga and pilates and toddler classes as well as very good camps on school holidays. In judo, karate and BJJ, The Budokwai offers a full range of classes from Beginner level, right up to international and Dan grade level. There are people in every size, coming to every class, meaning that the biggest people don't practice with small ones. The instructors are very kind and supportive and they will help you prepare for your next belt, or get some training done properly. I would highly recommend The Budokwai to everyone and encourage people to come.

Really well run Martial Arts Dojo. Has a gym, showers, changing and holds regular Judo Gradings. Great venue!

best hobby i picked up in 2019☺️after i got attacked by a knife last march i started going to classes here. Despite such long history of the dojo, the teachers, members and staff are all warm and welcoming to newbees！ recommend for all levels of expertise

An extraordinary judo club that is the second most important and influential judo club in the world. It developed the coloured belt system in 1927 that helped spread judo around the world. It was the foundation of the European Judo Union in 1938, but delayed by the war until 1948, and the International Judo Federation in the early fifties. It is the oldest judo club in Europe originally established in 1918 in Lower Grosvenor Place next to Buckingham Palace. I am very proud of being a long standing member since the early seventies.

I really like this place the lessons are fun and very educational. I know that this is the best Martial Arts Club in all of London! I recommend this to everybody who likes judo. My son is currently on red belt and the teacher is very fun. His class is on Saturday at 10:00 am and finishes at 11:30 am. So the teacher is very nice! Recommend this to evetybody!!!!

The instructors came across very rude when I asked them some crucial questions pertaining religious beliefs. So, I had a negative experience and wouldn’t recommend them because upright behaviour is most important and they exhibited unnecessary arrogance. I definitely would not like this kind of behaviour to my children to learn from or experience..

The Bud is the best judo club in London and the oldest. It has helped my kids to be good judo player. My son grow up in the Budokwai. Thanks to all the good coaches in there who have helped him over the years.Paul , Larry , David and others.
