The Old Bridge
The Old Bridge in Hereford holds a special place in the heart of the city and is a cherished landmark with a rich historical significance. As one of Hereford's oldest and most iconic structures, it captivates both locals and visitors alike. One of the most notable aspects of the Old Bridge is its architectural beauty. Spanning the picturesque River Wye, the bridge showcases a charming blend of design elements from different eras, reflecting its centuries-long existence. Its stone construction and graceful arches exude a timeless appeal, evoking a sense of history and heritage.Beyond its visual appeal, the Old Bridge holds great historical value. With a history dating back to the 13th century, it has witnessed numerous events and stood as a witness to the evolution of Hereford over the centuries. Walking across the bridge can evoke a sense of connection with the past, imagining the footsteps of those who traversed it in different times. The Old Bridge's location further adds to its allure. Positioned in the heart of Hereford, it offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape, including the river, the historic city center, and the nearby Hereford Cathedral. The bridge provides an ideal vantage point for appreciating the beauty of the city and immersing oneself in its ambiance.Furthermore, the Old Bridge serves as an important link, connecting different parts of Hereford and facilitating the movement of pedestrians and vehicles. Its strategic location contributes to the functionality of the city's transportation infrastructure and adds convenience for locals and tourists alike. While the Old Bridge holds significant historical and aesthetic value, it is worth mentioning that its age and design may present some limitations in terms of modern traffic demands. The narrowness of the bridge can occasionally lead to congestion, particularly during peak hours. However, efforts are made to manage traffic flow effectively and ensure the preservation of the bridge's integrity. In summary, the Old Bridge in Hereford is a treasured symbol of the city's heritage and a captivating architectural gem. Its historical significance, scenic location, and timeless charm make it a beloved landmark that connects the past with the present. Walking across the bridge is a memorable experience that offers a glimpse into Hereford's rich history and invites admiration for its enduring beauty.

The old bridge at Hereford is a beautiful place to visit. With the majestic River wye flowing west to east, the cathedral in view and good clean foot paths leading north to the old town and south to open parks and play areas and parking.Well worth a look if you're need a break in you're journey along the A49.

The Old Bridge
The Old Bridge is amazing as you can watch the seagulls fly by, but the only problem is that the pavement is a bit narrow and sometimes you have to walk on the curve, which is actually dangerous

The Old Bridge
The iconic view of Hereford. A glorious summer morning, the River Wye at its best with a great view of Herefords two most historic monuments.Enjoy a stroll a long the river bank, along the King George's playing fields, counting the swans floating around on the river, walking towards the Vicky Bridge.Blissful............until you realise this bit of heaven has just cost you a fiver in one of Herefords overpriced car parks.

The Old Bridge
Brilliant. It allowed me to cross the River Wye without getting my feet wet, which is what I look for in a bridge.

The Old Bridge
Great spot to view the city. A historical landmark in Herefordshire. It crosses River Wye with segmental arches of red sandstone. Opened 1599.
