Mojo Hair Design

I’ve been going to Mojo for many years to have my hair styled. The team are professional and friendly. I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else. I have fine white hair .. not the easiest to manage. Jo always asks how I managed with my last hair cut and discusses what I’d like to do next. (Then out come the style pics) Jo always discusses how the cut could be styled to suit me. She gives great advice and my cut always lasts well between cuts. I’m often asked who cuts my hair and I never hesitate to recommend Jo and her team.

The first Newcastle hairdresser I’ve been to that knows how to cut curly hair. They listened to what I asked for and showed pictures of, had a brief consultation, and gave me exactly the cut I wanted. Also, they have lovely staff who give great advice and fair prices. I highly recommend.

Joanne as normal has done an amazing job with my thick curly long hair, I have a brand new full head of colour going from dark to light which bless has taken most of the day, Joanne and all staff that work there are amazing in what they do daily, also very caring as I witnessed with my own eyes how the staff looked after a lady who was waiting for her husband and kept going outside staff made sure she was alright until her husband arrived. I have been going to MOJOs for at least 15 years and will never go anywhere else I’m very fussy with hairdressers touching my hair and I’m sure people who have curly hair understand it’s hard to get a brilliant hairdresser and when you do you never want to leave, you always get treated with a smile and respect and they do their very best to make sure you leave the shop happy, yes they are busy but never stop giving a million percent to each customer, Jo thank you again I love my hair

I went to this salon on Thursday after a friend recommended them. The salon states it specialises in curly hair, provides a full and comprehensive range of services with a top professional service. I explained to the women the type of curls I had, and that I wanted a trim all over and my hair framed to my face. She asked if I wanted it defused and I said it might be better to dry and straighten it, due to my curls not being the best state. The initial issue started for me when she didn't wash my hair properly, it literally felt like she was just tapping my scalp, no scrubbing, massage, nothing to get my scalp really clean. She then went to cut my hair, which was fine, except for the fact that she didn't cut my fringe straight, one side is longer than the other!!!! While she was straightening my frindge to cut it, the rest of hair was wet she hadn't dried my hair yet. She then kept catching my wet hair while she was trying to straighten my fringe. She was essentially burning my HAIR!!!! At this point I am at a loss, because how do you not think to move my hair and clip it while you're working on my fringe. I had to say to her, you're burning my hair. she said oh sorry with a giggle. After she finished my fridge she went to dry the rest of my hair, she told me should couldn't straighten it because she didn't have time and she had another client. How do you book someone, and tell them you cant finish the service? I told her fine, can you dry it at least. She went to dry my hair with a diffuser I asked her not to and to use a brush. She then dried my hair, not properly may I add, I woulda done a better job myself and saved my money. As I was paying to leave she said sorry for not being able to finish it all, and next time I call to let them know I have afro hair. This point I was actually irritated, because she wouldn't say that to another client. Also my hair isn't afro its about 4b, so its not difficult to manage, granted I have a lot of hair. But you are a salon that claims to specialise in curls, or is just white people curls? Also as a client when I come in to get my hair done I expect my hair to be done to a professional level. This was my first ever time at the salon and I definitely won't be going back. But if you are of African heritage or have hair that's anything from 4a and above dont bother going, its waste of money. The whole experience was humuliating, degrading.

They did an amazing job on my curly hair! Everyone is all so lovely too especially the lady who cut my hair but I can’t remember her name sadly.10/10 so happy to find a new salon since moving!

Joanne and the girls are an absolute delight!Joanne has helped me bring back my curls to looking springy, gorgeous and healthy from over bleached and thin. The team have so much knowledge and care for each other and all the clients.Joanne also gave me absolutely loads of advice for doing my own hair on my wedding day, as I couldn't have a hairdresser there with me. My hair came out gorgeous and I was so happy with the colours and contrasts that really did make my curls pop!

I have been going to Mojo's for over 15 years now and have always been 100% satisfied. Joanne and her team are extremely friendly, professional and talented, and always exceed expectations. I travel a long way to go there and will continue doing so!I would definitely recommend this place, particularly for anyone with curly hair and / or wanting colour done.

Not only Kayleigh made a great job with my curly hair but both girls made me feel as if it was not the first time I visited their business. Love my new haircut! They have definitely added me as their customer although I am moving south.
