A great place to go, had to book because it's a very popular place. Great atmosphere, facilities and wheelchair friendly. The staff are most attentive, a little delay on food to table but this was because of amount of diners. Well worth the wait, food excellent, I had the Welsh Lamb rump, my fellow diners had Fish and Chips and Mixed grill. No complaints at all. Unfortunatly photos do not do food justice. Sorry no pictures of puddings (we forgot to photograph them), but they were also top notch. Once again, thanks to friendly welcoming staff.

Had looked this place up as we wanted somewhere that served food all day. Reviews looked good, so we decided to give it a try. We arrived around 4pm, it was mid week so it was relatively quiet. Staff were very friendly and helpful when it came to ordering. Make sure you go hungry as the portions are massive. We have big appetites so were fine. Food was delicious and the service throughout was excellent. Will definitely be returning and have already recommended to friends.

Good to have a choice of light bites or larger portions on the daily special menu. These looked to be a fair price. Also, a good choice of food on the regular menu. The food was tasty and well cooked. The girls who served us were really friendly. I will visit again.

A large main road side pub popular with charabanc coach parties pre and post war from Brum and Wolverhampton in its day.We had lunch which was ok but was let down by presentation and frugality/ e.g. starter had only 2 bits of gem lettuce and no lemon or just a bit of brown bread which traditionally would be served with this dish/ main course fish pie was excellent but spoilt by serving it with a measly old salad ( brown edges) when all it needed was some mixed veg broccoli ect/ staff were excellent and the toilets very clean with eclectic mix of Banksy prints/ outside it lacked kerb appeal could do with some flower tubs troughs along the seating area to brighten it up which wouldn't cost much.

Good if you're known, terrible if you aren't - having just returned from dinner here tonight I was extremely disappointed to be treated very differently from some other tables. After being seated it took 20 minutes for our drinks order to be taken, and a further 15 minutes for them to arrive. Our food was then another 40 minutes, which when arrived was good, however did not warrant the time it took.We then attempted to order desert, waited 25 minutes before chasing it only to be told, very rudely, they were busy and to wait.During this time the table next to us, who arrived after us, spent the entire time talking to one of the wait staff and were served 3 courses. It is clear certain people were prioritised. To summarise, the food is good but the service terrible and the staff are a combination of untrained and rude.

Surprisingly good food at the Wheel, with everything apparently made in house, from pies and mornay sauce to meringue and lasagna. Fish cooked perfectly whether in a sauce or as a giant fillet. Tender veg that's firm. Indulgently rich meat pie. Our party of six had not a single complaint or quibble about any of our meals. It was a very happy surprise when we expected mediocre pub grub.

Had an early tea on the weekend. Place was packed, which is a good sign. Husband had scampi, which was a large plate full. No complaints from him. I had lamb shank. Veges were lovely and hot, which is fantastic, the meat, unfortunately, was full of gristle (not their fault), and gravy was tasteless. But it was a pretty good meal overall. It's not a dog friendly pub, unfortunately, but it was good for an unplanned stop.
