Fed up with being bullied by this government.Need to sort an issue out with you and I cant get through because the automated service keeps not getting what I need to do and it just hangs up. Pathetic. So sick of you taking all my extra money that I need to live. This isn't living.

Bunch of silly children trying to run a grown ups department. Best thing to do would be 100% compulsory redundancy with no severance due to gross misconduct through all levels. Bring in AI or outsource the jobs.

The hold time is ridiculous, I waited an hour just for a one minute phone call saying that they were waiting on a tax code when they had already taken the money away from me. As a student this is unacceptable.

Been hold for more than 40 mins and finally Ben picked up someone called Sally a very rude and interrupted one , she shouldn’t fit in her job, no sympathy or whatsoever if she has a problem at home leave it there as we all experiencing a problem but in different ways but we are all trying to cope but if you encounter these kind of people it wonky help you at all. But her name is Sally hope someone knows her and talk to her as she wasn’t for in her job at all!0star!

Calling hmrc appears to be akin to calling a racist on phonecall. A conversation that ought simply to be officially addressed is prejudiced and predicated upon biasNo matter how legitimate ones requests and concerns are (with a minimum of one hour waiting time on phone before having access to speak to a correspondent), 99% hmrc government civil servants either truncates the phonecall or forecloses my concerns.Hmrc government civil servants should accord callers the same respect they demand. I am highly disappointed in hmrc staffs

I called them in July to complain they are taxing me 40% but I’m a retired pensioner. Hour to get through and the guy on the phone was sick, coughing loudly and sneezing and making revolting noises. He then told me I owed them £12,000.00. I told him I wanted to speak to a supervisor, he said hang on and continued coughing and spluttering for another 10 minutes, he then said “oh yes, I’ve recalculated and we owe you £4800.00, but you will have to wait until next year for a rebate”. I told him not good enough, so he arranged to have £1800 now and would change my tax code. I got the £1800 refund and my new tax code in August. November I get a letter with a new tax code for emergency tax and a demand for £1900.00 !! You couldn’t make this up. I tried calling them at 8am, in the queue, I gave up at 09.45. I have written a letter to them, apparently it takes 60 days to answer a letter. The service is not fit for purpose, it’s staffed by temps who are not trained properly, it needs a total overhaul, it’s a shocking state of affairs.

On hold for more than 30 minutes, then finally got through to someone. After a further 20 minutes on the phone with the HMRC staff, the woman couldn't help me with my tax refund issues. She then kept me on hold. After 5 minutes, I got an automated message saying thanks for waiting

Ok, so here's the reality of HMRC:Call them between 08:00 and 09:00 - if you call any later, then you won't even have a chance to be put on hold as they'll just cut the line due to such high volumes of callers. The earlier you call, the higher the chance that you'll actually be able to wait for an advisor. The wait time is extremely long - expect to wait for an hour and a half. I think they should hire more people, but the reality is that you will just have to wait. The initial advisors are somewhat useless until they transfer you to the correct department which can once again take a very long wait time.Once you get through to the actual correct department, and you can supply your NI number, date of birth etc, they are extremely helpful and thorough in their explainations and queries. I suppose they shouldn't really get such a hard time - it's just not very easy to get to the end point. A massive amount of patience is required.
