The Boathouse

The new look Boathouse is amazing. They have put in a lot more tables but have somehow made it a much more cosy inviting place to eat. Great menu, we had roast dinners which came with winter veg, large Yorkshire puddings. Portion sizes wee very good and everything tasted fresh and served hot. Good dessert menu, recommend sticky toffee pudding or choc brownie, both good sized portions and very filling. Staff were very attentive and polite, asking how food was, if we needed further drinks etc. From sitting down and ordering drinks to then ordering food, everything was timed perfectly. Just the right amount of time between courses and didn't feel rushed or like we were waiting forever, unlike the old boathouse" We always felt rushed or like we were waiting for ages to order.Outside garden eating area is absolutely gorgeous

The staff were great, but unfortunately there were lots of items not on the menu and what they did have the quality was not great, both male and female toilets were minging with broken toilet seats. After complaining we got a large refund on the bill. Such a shame we visited this place years ago and it was great.One positive is that it's dog friendly however I wouldn't have fed the food to the dogs.

Went here for my team Christmas lunch for the umpteenth time. Food and service have always been good.This time the food was very good again, but...Despite booking ahead, choosing all of our meals in advance and paying our deposit, they were not ready for us. We were not a big party. We had to wait 25 minutes to get served drinks, despite our efforts to speed this up. Our food arrived an hour and ten minutes after we were due to sit down.If they were getting it right, they would have looked ahead and prepared our food in time for our arrival. Instead, 20 minutes after arriving we were approached with a print out of a pre-order that was clearly not ours. 10 minutes later they printed off the correct pre-order and, I assume, began preparing our food.Other parties were similarly affected.The Boat House has clearly had a refurb and it looks great. But they have problems with their organisation. I will avoid coming here again until they sort this out.The food quality was not affected, though.
