St Helen's Church
St Helens Anglo-Saxon church skipworth is a grade 1 listed building. The tower dates back to 960AD, the ladies Chapel was added in the 13th century. The door was restored in the 1800's with ironwork dating back to the 1300's. On the floor in the vestry is the ragnarok stone, which is carved with a scene from Norse mythology thought to represent the end of the world. The unusual stained glass windows depict scenes from chaucer's the pilgrims progress. St Helens church in the Tiny Village of skipworth is on the edge of skipworth common it is a lovely building in a beautiful setting well worth visiting if you enjoy medieval churches.
