Really warm welcme. Great spot for a coffee, drink or lunch. Breakdast served until 11am. Friendliest staff around. And dog-friendliest, too! Water bowl offered for our dog. Vast seating, including cosy booths, complete with socket and USB charge port.

Can I give service no stars? Because I’d like to. The food was actually nice! I felt sorry for the chef because the poor service took away from it and I won’t be returning. The place itself is really pretty! We were greeted by a server who treated us like we’d walked into her house and asked for food. No eye contact, no acknowledgment of us attempting to make conversation with us. And it wasn’t busy. It was almost comical how rude she was. We even Googled the restaurant reviews when we were sat for an eternity waiting for the bill and it seems that a significant amount of people had experienced the same rude staff. Further training is required. Good luck!

Eating here was a big miss for us, which is a shame because I had only heard good things before. Service was mostly poor, half of the food was a miss and was generally a bad experience. When we arrived we waited at the corner of the bar, near the entrance for about a minute, 3 members of staff passed by, but no one said anything and as there was no sign to indicate to wait here, I tried to walk up to the bar to ask. Before I had even got a few steps in I was shouted at by the bartender to get back to front door and wait. Eventually we were seated and ordered some drinks, both of which were okay. This was a recurring theme in that it took so long for the servers to do anything, take orders, pay bill etc, and it wasn't that busy at this point. When we were served, the woman and the guy behind the bar were clearly not happy to be there and were very blunt. There was another guy working that was quite friendly but I think he was new/trainee as he seemed a little lost at times. We ordered starters and mains but both of the ones I chose were out of stock, so I picked Korean fried chicken and a pizza, while my friend got pate and steak. Both starters were okay, but my friends steak was a bit tough, and his peppercorn sauce was essentially cold. My pizza wasn't good, the cheese felt super heavy and artificial, and I couldn't finish it. I can sink a Rudys or pizza punks pizza no problem but after 2 thirds of this pizza, my stomach didn't feel good. This restaurant is meant to be on the nicer scale of things, decent service and nice food for a matching price, but our experience was none of that and ultimately quite disappointing as I had wanted to visit for quite a long time and it cost over £70.

On a rainy Sunday afternoon we were tempted into Papillon for lunch by the amount of customers already dining. We had Roast Beef, Roast Chicken with a bottle of Shiraz followed by a Chocolate Espresso Brownie and Vanilla Lemon Posset. We were not disappointed with the food or with the overall experience so would highly recommend this restaurant!

A great relaxed environment with lovely staff, a gorgeous interior and delicious food. I’ve been for evening meals (the fish and chips is great, as are the side plates) and a Sunday roast which was incredible.

Let’s be honest, the place looks good and has a decent vibe about it when you first go in.The service initially started good getting seated and first drinks order and food being taken pretty promptly. From there after it definitely went downhill. After being served our starters and finishing them we sat and waited for what must of been approximately 15-20 minutes without anyone coming to clear our plates. It got that bad I actually had to get up and walk to the other side of the place to find someone to ask to clear the table. We then waited further for our mains and during this time had to get back up to ask for another drinks order, with everyone having clear empty glasses on the table. When the mains arrived if I’m honest this was mediocre at best, we had the roast dinner and whilst the meat was nice, the three roast potatoes were nothing to write home about and the ‘seasoned veg’ consisted of 3 chatney carrots and some cold cabbage type stuff. Alongside that, some lukewarm gravy to go on top.Following this, we sat again for probably 15-20 minutes having finished our meal and still had all dirty dishes in front of us. Once again we had to get up to find somebody to ask for the table to be cleared and for the bill. I think I probably deserve an hours pay at this rate considering I basically served myself. The irony, I actually asked the girl when paying the bill if they were understaffed and she said ‘no tonight’s actually been okay’.We were sat in the corner so maybe it’s just that we were forgot about or just had a poor person covering our area, if any, I didn’t see anyone the whole time I was in there.A real shame as it looks great and had heard good things but I’m afraid I won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Venue is beautiful - the Georgian Quarter is a brilliant area of Liverpool!Sadly the aesthetic did not match up to the service. As we were stood waiting around for about 5 minutes when we arrived until having to seek out a member of staff to assist us. My partner waited for over 40 minutes for her starter whilst I enjoyed mine and the main course took a further hour to arrive!Staff were friendly but had to ask for the bill twice in a twenty minute period which was quite frustrating considering we had been there for a fair while.I hope it improves as this place has great potential!

Very Friendly staff. Delicious drinks. And the roast had perfect amount of gravy. Not swimming and not begging for more! My only complaint would be the yorkshire pudding was a bit dry and flaky.

Nice location for beers or food or both. I tried one of the best fish and chips of my life. Personnel was nice and helpful.
