Kelford Dog Training

I sought training for my 1 year old teacup Yorkie, Priscilla, because my attempts at training her had been fruitless. I was completely overwhelmed by all the information on the internet and struggled to find trainers who didn't do treat training. I was not convinced that treat training was the way to reliably ensure obedience so I contacted Kelford.I could not be happier with the results. It turned out that it was I who needed training, Priscilla was a breeze. In short, everything that I believed to be true about the previous training methods did nothing to create a trusting relationship between Priscilla and me that will make training easier. Kelford's method enables you to form a really lovely relationship with your dog and teaches you to have confidence in your abilites to train them.Lyndon's knowledge of dogs and training is nothing short of extraordinary. As well as learning about my specific breed, I learned about so many different breeds of dog that we may encounter, and what they were originally bred for so that I can recognise behaviours in them that might put Priscilla in a risky situation. With this knowledge I can act premptively to keep Priscilla safe.I was given a comprehensive folder of information with clear, easy to follow instructions and I had follow up contact with Lyndon a week or so to make sure we were staying on track. Kelford is set in a beautiful part of the world and well worth the trip from London. If you want to develop a really close, trusting and ultimately rewarding relationship with your dog then go to Kelford. They are brilliant!

What a fantastic experience!!. Our “high energy” Border Collie puppy Seren has been converted from a barely manageable “Tasmanian Devil” of a dog to a highly responsive, obedient and loving canine companion. Kelly and Lyndon have worked their magic for us and we’ll be forever grateful. The training and aftercare that Seren (and we) are receiving is second to none. I’m sure that our relationship with Kelly and Lyndon will continue for many years to come.

After being overwhelmed as a first time dog owner, I contacted Kelford to help with training my red fox labrador puppy for both general training as well as specific issues. Lyndon was patient, friendly, compassionate and clearly knew his stuff. By the end of my 3 day training, Bailey was more attentive, willing to follow commands, and much better on the lead. On my last day I was even able to sit in a cafe enjoying a coffee with him lying down calmly without me having to give him a treat as a distraction! I came away a more confident dog owner and leader with a deeper understanding of the human / canine companionship. I highly recommend Lyndon and Kelford.

I'm so pleased I found Kelford! I was in search of training with our four year old Welsh Springer Spaniel. Some bad habits had formed and I was looking for training that would assess our issues and provide kind and respectful training specific to our needs.From the first time I spoke to Lyndon over the telephone I could tell he was knowledgeable and professional. I was reassured I had found the right place.Lyndon and I agreed on the Bronze Plus Rebalancing training over 4 days. Lyndon's feedback from the first day assessment was illuminating and insightful and shaped the basis of the areas for improvement.Over the next few days we continued our learning in different environments providing the opportunity to make adjustments to ensure we covered the key issues.We left Kelford with a clear plan of training to focus on and practice. My relationship with Rosie is well on the road to becoming more balanced in that she looks to me for direction rather than doing her own thing! The three month follow-up support with updates and feedback is making sure we stay on track.I wish I had found this unique training environment when Rosie was a puppy.Thank you Kelford. Having approached Kelford recently to assist me with finding a new puppy, it has prompted me to write a review of my dealings with them over the last 10 years as the level of professionalism, commitment and knowledge they have provided me with has been faultless. Their methods are extremely effective and as a result, I have spent the last decade sharing my life with two wonderful dogs.My husband and I first met Kelly, David and Lyndon in 2011 as we desperately needed professional help in controlling our very unruly 9 month old GSP. Neither of us had experienced any issues training dogs before however this dog had well and truly got the better of us. We booked a residential training weekend at Kelford and spent two days with Kelly whilst she observed the three of us interacting and noting our responses to all manner of different situations. By the end of the weekend it was clear where the problem areas were and Kelly devised an extremely thorough and comprehensive plan of action for us to follow.Following our initial training session, I continued my training with Kelly & Lyndon, both on a ‘one to one’ basis and as part of group. The results were fantastic and thanks to their training methods, I developed the most wonderful bond with my GSP for which I will be eternally grateful particularly as we recently had to say goodbye to him.When I purchased a Labrador puppy I immediately contacted Kelly in order to join her puppy training classes. Once again, the training was so rewarding and both my Lab and I enjoyed every minute. Yet again I have Kelly and Lyndon to thank for my wonderful Lab who has developed into a fabulous pet and an exceptional gun dog.Having been given the status of ‘lifelong member of Kelford’, due to my dogs having been trained by Kelford, I have relied on Kelly, David & Lyndon to care for my dogs whenever I was on holiday abroad which they have done so perfectly for the length of time I have known them. There is absolutely no one else I would trust to provide the level of care my precious dogs receive at Kelford by such knowledgeable professionals.Having been a client of Kelford’s for nearly a decade I cannot recommend them highly enough to anyone who is looking to train their dog and develop that special bond.I have always found both Kelly and Lyndon, incredibly kind, understanding, compassionate, eager to help and to be frank, what they don’t know about dogs isn’t worth knowing! It is blatantly obvious that they are in business simply because of their love of dogs and their desire to teach people how to train and interact with their canine companion and for both parties to have the best possible relationship.

We are in the rather unusual position of having a 110+kg dog, and whilst our problems were not big he certainly is!Following a number of attacks on Norman his trust in us and subsequently our trust in him had broken down. Local treat trainers were intimidated by his size and in hindsight demonstrated a lack of faith in their own techniques by refusing to handle him.Not at Kelford! Lyndon took Norman and his lead without hesitation and changed our lives.We knew we needed to try something different and focus on relationship and connection, which is exactly what Kelford is all about. Listening to Lyndon is like being in a 1-1 masterclass on all things dog. His knowledge, understanding and intuition of dogs and the human relationship is revolutionary. He adapted handling techniques to accommodate Normans ridiculous size, considered our lifestyle and throw in some healthy reality checks too.Lyndon enhanced our knowledge and understanding giving us the tools we needed to progress. As all good dog owners come to realise the problem isn't the dog but rather our handling, expectations and relationship with them. The Kelford way is rooted in respect. Respect for dogs, for relationship and communication and that respect is also demonstrated in the professionalism and on going support from Lyndon.Our relationship with Norman has been transformed and we're back to fully enjoying our gentle giant.Couldn't be prouder of being part of the Kelford family!

Holistic, Tailored, Natural, therefore Impactful.Highly Recommend.It has been the breakthrough we needed.I wish I'd found Lyndon at Kelford Dog Training at the start of owning my dog, but it is never too late to start doing the right things and building new 'good' habits to overtake the old 'bad' habit (of the human, that had set in due to my lack of knowledge). Since having Lyndon's guidance, which has been tailored specifically based on his assessment of my skill level, and the dog's breed and how her behaviours presented, we really feel like we have turned a corner and we are now progressing towards a relationship between human and dog that I aspired to have, but was previously illusive.

After a recent visit to Kelford we met Lyndon and completed a Bronze training package it and now feels like we have a different dog! Our dog Bob hasn’t changed but Lyndon took the time to fully explain to us about it the breed and characteristics and how to best work with Bob. Since getting home the change has been remarkable where our house is a lot calmer and Bob is a lot happier. We cannot wait to get back to Kelford for our follow up as we know there is a lot of work to do. The regular contact with Lyndon is very supportive and we know we are now on the right path, we just wish we had found Lyndon sooner!

Always go to the best in their field and Kelford are The Best. Amazing attention given to you and your dog with the training and wellbeing of both of you at the centre of all they do. Understanding that the Owner is the first one to be trained which then passes onto the dog and the results are outstanding. Cannot recommend Kelford enough.

We sent our 8 week Vizsla, Gatsby, to Kelford for basic training. Lyndon and Kelly did an amazing job. We had specific requirements which included handling urban noise and traffic, being off lead around a golf course and exceptionally kind to children. They did an amazing job. I fully recommend Kelford. Attention to detail was first class. gatsby has been back for top up training or when we are away on holiday. Thanks to Kelford we have a very well behaved and well trained vizsla. Gatsby is nearly 5 now and we get the same fantastic service as we did when Gatsby was 8 weeks. 5 stars for Kelford ⭐️
