Getting a lunch snack here was fraught, it took so long to get the food after ordering what should have been served immediately. We ordered 2xsoups, jacket potato, a pasty, & cheesy wedges, after 40 minutes we asked where it was, it took a further 20 minutes (& the wedges never arrived). Every one was suffering similarly. This should have been an easy food production process, but it wasn't.Normally I would tolerate this but there was no feedback on how long the food would take, so lots of people kept indoors waiting (in our case an hour), on a wet day, during a high covid period, which was surely a recipe for infection spreading.

Great cafe with a large choice of cake and of course National Trust scones. Mocha I had tasted lovely and can highly recommend the jacket potatoes.

The restaurant is set in very interesting surroundings. Limited food on offer at the time l visited, around 2.15pm. Staff very attentive and friendly. It was very busy at the time of my visit so might not be a typical day.

I wasn’t expecting much from the cafe after reading previous comments but I have to say that it was quite a nice cafe, very busy when I was there but still the wait wasn’t too long and there was still plenty of tables left. They had a selection of sandwiches, soups, salads, some vegans options, they had cakes, pastries, ice cream, cold refreshments, teas and coffees. Service was much quicker than at the garden kitchen, lots of people were turning around at the Garden Kitchen to get drinks and food at the Barn Cafe due to how busy the Garden Kitchen was when we were visiting.

Standard National Trust cafe, a decent pasty and a large chocolate brownie were the diet option! Great to see a dog friendly area here, usually thr dog owner has to walk on by the NT cafés!

Like most museum or National Trust cafés, the menu is limited and the counter a bit like a production line. However, the seating area is interesting and the tagine we had was very good.
