Bayard's Cove Fort
A truly unique and interesting place to visit. The Bayard Cove Fort is steeped in history and interesting nuggets of information. You can walk around on it, go inside it and climb up certain parts of it. Very curious spot to visit and fascinating how the rest of the town was built up around it.Definately worth a look, for the photo opportunities of nothing else!

Bayard's Cove Fort
A brilliant piece of history to see. Step steep best to come in via the town centre. Many cannons but none in the Fort. Parking is in rhe Town car parks really. Plenty of lovely views over the harbour. Will visit again in the near future

Bayard's Cove Fort
What a treat to visit this beautiful town. To get from one side of town to another you have tk take ond of two ferries. The price per car is about £5. The town is placed on two river banks and both sides are beautiful. It does not take long to walk along the river from one end to another. We stopped for coffee at the local Costa. Beautiful location and friendly people. The traffic warden was checking parking tickets frequently, so make sure you pay and display!!

The fort itself is in great condition especially being by the ocean. We accessed it via the stairs from the upper road, which can be a bit hazardous in the rain but is also accessible directly on the lower road, although there are a few steps down either side to enter the fort.Parking nearby is mostly permits or ticketed. If you drive pass the busy town shops, you’ll reach parking area which has free parking (although council is planning to implement meters in early 2024). The walk from there is about 10 minutes.Great views no doubt. This is open to the public and no tickets are required.

Really amazing views. Really good time out with couples and family.Round robin trip was really good. Cost around £35 a adult. 30 mins steam train with amazing views. 90 mins boat ride along the river. Then a 30 mins bus journey. Really good way to see amazing views of Dartmouth. Would recommend to all who visit. Good for all ages.

Bayard's Cove Fort
Beautiful spot in Dartmouth, Devon. There are information boards placed around giving a history of the area. We were lucky to visit on a gorgeous sunny day. Plenty of bars and coffee shops in local area - we thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Dartmouth.

Take the walk from Dartmouth castle around to the cove. It's a nice 15 min walk along a lovely path and road, past done really nice houses. The fort itself is now just a single room, free to enter but only one sign board so not a lot of information.

Bayard's Cove Fort
Walking by Lower Street, Bayard's Cove Street, and then following SW Coast Path, we can find the Bayard's Cove Fort that it was built to protect the prosperous port city from attack. It has a very strategic and picturesque location in the banks of Dart River. It is very well preserved and has wonderful views of Dart stuaries. It has all the history information in the signs on site and also another access through some stairs that connect to Southtown Street.  It is a must-see place in your visit to Dartmouth.
