What a beautiful place to visit! The gardens are stunning, the mill was also very interesting. We didn't get to see the workers cottage or apprentice house as you have to book that was disappointing. The cafe at the mill was massively over priced and not a great selection so I'd recommend taking your own food to enjoy in the grounds or indoor picnic area at the mill. There is a second hand book shop which is a little over priced but i got a nice book from 1906. Ice cream parlour is 3.20 per scoop. Parking is free. Access to the grounds is also free but you cant go in the gardens or buildings. We are now watching the mill which was filmed here and is a good series

Lovely place to visit to look at some history, have a decent walk and relax in the gardens or at the café. I have a 3 year old that is entertained looking round the mill but they also often have garden games dotted about. There is a hill to walk up from the mill back to the entrance but they do have a golf buggy doing a shuttle for accessibility.

went for the enchanted winter walk, it's was lovely, kids met 'mrs Christmas' and she gave them some reindeer food and a free hot chocolate at the end. Lovely evening.

Lots to see and do to enrich your visit here.Working 200 year old mill which shows the journey of the mill from its early days, through its hay days. History is shown using facts, free tours (you do need to book) and shown in the light of modern values.Exhibits well shown, & shop available to buy ethically woven cotton from the mill.Lovely compact cafe & beautiful gardens. Woodland walk also available.Great day out for any age, including families.

Another great national trust place if you're a member, (wouldn't go otherwise) plenty to see, with lots of information, staff are willing to show you all the machines working and explaining everything, it is a bit sad you can't take dogs, but understandable as it can get busy in the mill and very noisy, great gardens for a stroll, definitely worth a visit if you're a member. You must book on the tours as soon as you arrive, otherwise you may be disappointed, definitely worth doing the tours, the apprentice house Halloween tour was brilliant.

For any families considering visiting make sure you have a look at getting the national trust membership it's £140 that's two adults and as many children in your family that's unlimited visits to any site.We visited as a family the main house and was great to see the machines running and staff explained how the factory worked. Our tickets got us the house in which children lived and worked and was guided by an interactive demonstration.Great to walk round the gardens and homes which where rented by workers.

One of my favourite National Trust places to visit, especially on a blue sky day. The flowers are beautiful and vibrant. There's a lovely walk by the water and beautiful green areas to either have a picnic on or just relax in the sun. The mill is a great place to visit with really helpful staff providing you information on everything.

Lovely place. An interesting piece of history. I'm glad they didn't hide any detail about how brutal life could have been in the mill. The tours and all the staff are super friendly and they deliver all the pieces of knowledge amazingly. I'm impressed with all the practical stuff as well. Nice gardens to walk around including a forest. It works as a nice day out. The food in the restaurant was lovely as well. It's a place to go back for sure.

Great place to visit no matter what the weather. So much to see and do. Definitely recommend the Apprentice House tour - our guide Lucy was brilliant and happy to chat to us after. Everyone who worked there was very friendly and helpful providing more information about the Mill giving talks and demonstrations. Beautiful gardens that I am looking forward to going back to visit. Love the buggy transport for those who struggle with mobility taking from the Mill up the hill to the Apprentice House/Car Park. Definitely worth it especially if you are a member!

One of my favourite places. The garden is wonderful, the mill is fantastic and in amazing shape. All the machineries are working and you have some presentations as well in every 30 minutes.
