Weymouth Old Town (West) Car Park

Another victim of an unnecessary fine. Only accepts coin payment with no app or facility for notes or card payment. Left within 5 minutes of finding no way to pay. Still ended up with fine of £100!!!! This place is a scam. Weymouth council need to sort this out.

DO NOT PARK HERE!!!!!! It’s run by crooks out to get you.The parking meter only takes change - you can’t pay by card or app. But don’t let that fool you - there are cameras logging your every move and the clock starts as soon as you enter the car park.We parked for just 16 mins whilst we desperately searched for loose change - ending up trying to find a cash machine, which we couldn’t.So we moved the car to a different car park, which accepted payment by app (as all good car parks should these days).Lo and behold, a few weeks later we get a fine for £100.Don’t risk it!!

Absolutely do not even consider parking here. As per all the other reviewers we received a fine. Scammers through and through.

Received a penalty notice despite overstaying by 5 min - grace period! Successfully challenged this penalty but wasted so much time...I won't come back anytime soon

Do not park here! Parking Eye don't change the signage to show the different parking rates between summer and winter. We paid for upto 6 hours worth of parking and got a fine. as apparently we paid the winter rate. Parking Eye hadn't bothered to change the signs.

Be warned: after trying to pay with the exact change or by an app neither were possible we left after 6 minutes of trying. We have been fined £100. So I appealed and they wanted more evidence. The only evidence I could think of was cctv showing us trying to pay at the machine- well this is not easy to get a hold of.I contacted the governing body BPA (for private carparks), they confirmed that private carparks give a 5 minute grace to get in and pay and then get out.I don’t live in the area to return and find proof that the machine was not working such as a video.There is even an article in the local paper involving councillors about the corruption taking place at this carpark.It saddens me that even the council becoming involved has not dealt with them.No doubt some one else will come along, spend ages trying to pay on the app and throwing coins into the machine for it not to work and then go over the 5mins grace. Imagine how a disabled person would cope. It’s daylight robbery and parking eye and the land owners are getting away with this. I pray for karma to come around 3 fold to them

Do not park here they are just out to make money out of those who breach time by one minute. They charge from the moment you drive in not from when you buy the ticket. They are a rogue practice. They don’t subscribe to the ombudsman. Totally avoid at allcost... you are better to pay more at an NCP who operates a fair system. The appeal process is a waste of time too. Appalled at a time when we haven’t been able to holiday for so long and then be charged £100 is a joke.

Parked legitimately and 2 months later got a letter in the post to say I had over stayed and had to pay £100 pounds. You can only pay with coins in a machine and yet they send a photo of you entering and leaving the car park overstaying your time with no evidence against your ticket. The time then taken to receive a penalty notice is unbelievable as you don't have your ticket still to prove you have paid for the correct period.Park here at your peril as this place is run by crooks out to get extortionate amounts of money illegitimately. I'm ashamed I'm giving them 1 star rating if I'm honest bring back no stars!

DO NOT PARK HEREParking time commences from time of entering the carpark not the time on your ticket. We were over our stay by 16 minutes from time of entering the carpark but only 1 minute from the time on the ticket (because we were scrambling for change to buy a ticket) and we received £100 fine. Despite the fact we had paid for a ticket ticket. The appeal was rejected (I imagine it wasn't even read). Absolutely immoral and disgusting company. No signs for ANPR! Avoid at all costs!

Avoid this car park at all costs. They are total crooks. My friend tried to pay but the machine was not working. There was no phone number to contact them on and everyone left signs in their cars to say pay machine was out of action. Because the whole system is run by automated number plate detection he was automatically sent a £60 fine even though it was not his fault. PARKINGEYE ARE LEGITIMATE ROBBERS
