Blackwell Mill Cycle Hire Monsal Trail ( WINTER CLOSURE Monday 2nd October 2023

Lovely day out cycling along the Monsal Trail to Bakewell. We called in advance and the bikes were ready for us. The lovely lady at the cycle hire gave lots of welcome reccomendations for stops along the way. Great bikes, perfect for the trail and the price was for all day.

Great day out for a steady bike ride with some superb scenery and tunnels. Bikes all pre booked and ready to go after a simple phonecall a week before. Parking is £4.75 until 6pm and then a 10\15 minute walk to the hire shop. Biked all the way to Bakewell taking in the views with a quick pit stop, then made our way back. Weather was good so we passed plenty of walkers. Distance covered there and back is around 20miles. All in all was well worth the 2 hour car journey and was enjoyed by all of us.

Tried to visit the tuck shop here twice in September but it was shut in the afternoon when the sign and Google said it should have been open. Ideal for snacks and drinks for walkers and cyclists on the Monsal trail if its open!!!

My husband and I could not recommend this company enough! We booked with them as part of our holiday in the Peak District and they did not disappoint. Our 1 year old daughter also joined us for the day and she absolutely loved it (once she got used to wearing her helmet).All of the staff were really friendly and one of them talked us through the trail in great detail. He told us about the various places there were to stop on route, including pubs, cafes and just really great views (they also gave us a map to refer to if needed). The booking included good quality bikes, helmets, a lock and a pump just in case. They also encouraged us to contact them if we ran into any issues at all.If you are on holiday in the area, we would strongly recommend booking this as part of your trip.

We rented bikes for the day to cycle the length of the Monsal Trail (and back again). This was really worth doing and an enjoyable experience; the viaducts, tunnels and scenery of the Trail are spectacular. The bikes themselves ran smoothly and the staff at the Hire were friendly and helpful.

We visited the Peak District for a birthday weekend and rented bikes from this company.Very friendly, helpful and reasonably priced. There's no rush to return them so you can stop at a cafe or two along the way or even pick up a Bakewell tart from Bakewell before heading back.The trail itself is amazing and pictures don't do it justice. We watched a few videos beforehand and felt like they under-played how scenic it is. It was our favorite part of the trip.

Nice little place for a stop at the Blackwell end of Monsal Trail. There’s sitting outside only. We didn’t hire our bikes from them but there seems to be a good selection. No public car park next to the Blackwell Mill Cycle Hire - residents only.Access road from the trail can be very challenging for wheelchair and bike with trailer users. It’s very steep with loose surface
