My friend and I were in a pinch one late night and Allistor, who answered the phone, was extremely accommodating. We would be coming in very late, for one short night, and he was able to take care of everything over the phone - payment, codes, location, etc. GREAT spot basically neighbors with the Inverness Train Station.Room was spacious, beds decent, and clean sheets. Would recommend to anyone visiting or passing through. Thank you City Hostel for a great experience!

Staying here was terrible. The whole place seemed sketchy and unclean. The bedding was stained with bodily fluids and it is beyond me how anyone would charge £100 pounds per night. No elevator accessibility and the reception is upstairs. The window in the room did not shut , it was NAILED open, something that I've never seen anywhere. We could not sleep that night due to the noise coming from the drunk people downstairs having street parties.I contacted the owner and asked for a refund to which I received NO response.I would NOT recommend anyone stay here

The hostel was very old, dirty and smelled. There were few to no outlets in the rooms, just a few in the communal area. There were locks on the doors but none were ever actually locked. Lockers in the rooms were an extra cost. Very few bathrooms being shared by lots of people, poorly laid out so they were always flooded, and the hot water didn't always work. Only plus is that it is conveniently located near transport and attractions.

I stayed here for two nights and when I checked in, the hostel manager was incredibly friendly and warm. He told me I am being shifted to the 12 bed dorm (cheaper) instead of the 6 bed I paid for (more expensive). His reason was that this other bigger room was emptier and hence I would get more space. I happily agreed and went in (all cash payment only). Next thing I realize there are already 3 people in this room and the beds are stacked like a railway carriage. Not really spacious even without people. I came back to the room at night and suddenly it had about 7 occupants. Not sure if so many people turned up out of the blue but basically I ended up being stuck there for 2 nights in a cheaper room than what I had already paid for. The bathroom smelt of pee and had nothing, no bath mat. The room had no heat either. It’s literally only worth for its location.

It's exactly what you pay for. Cheapest hostel in town. Beds are okay (although squeaky), kitchen is fine, common room is good. Crowded sleeping rooms with little space, few wall plugs. Bathrooms are.. Okay, not that clean but I've seen worse.Staff is super friendly though and it's super central. So, good for 1 or 2 nights

Avoid this place. This dismal hostel is all about taking your money and providing a bare minimum while cutting corners. We stayed at the four bed dorm, which is shoved into a small, cramped attic room with a dirty (and moldy) window and zero air flow. Beds are cheap and sqeaky, covers are old, pillows are spotty and thin, and at least my mattress was bulged upward, making it difficult to sleep on. A small locker costs extra, the lock provided is a cheap number lock that looks like it could be just pulled open. Room only had one outlet hidden behind one of the beds, which needs to be moved if you want to charge your devices. Rooms are cleaned" on sundays

If you like staying somewhere that feels like an old persons mental ward/prison then this is the place for you. The entire hostel was dirty and felt stale. The receptionist was brash and unfriendly and he even said welcome to the mad-house" when we arrived. Not a good start. The beds were plastic and the bunks wobbly and noisy. Had the worst sleep ive ever had in a hostel here since every movement was amplified. The 3 of us that stayed all felt like we hadnt slept at all the next day and agreed the car would have been a better option.Do not stay here. There are other better options. For instance maybe a cardboard box on the street."

Stayed in a twin room on Ardconnel, also managed by the hostel. Very clean room. Super-friendly and helpful staff. Self catering kitchen is in good shape, but for 2 very stinky refrigerators/freezers - very gross. Clean shared bath and comfy beds. Secure Wifi didn't seem to exist but there was non-secure free. Can't speak to the main location but this was pretty good.

The only thing that really seemed clean were the beds. It was what we expected for the cheap price. Good if you are looking for a really cheap place to stay for a night, but just not very clean. There are also bathrooms on the second floor that tended to be cleaner than the ones on the first.

I stayed at their 'guesthouse' as the main hostel was full. It's unsafe and unclean with small rooms. There is no reception. Instead, the front door and your room doors are keypad operated. When I arrived the front door was open, unattended, again the same later. The bathroom had some damp and mould. The room was the size of two single beds, although the sheets were clean. The place had a weird atmosphere of a derelict bed sit which the hostel was subletting out. Would not recommend.
