My husband spent his last few hours here, the staff and doctors are so thoughtful and caring, they treated my husband with dignity and respect, and made me feel welcomed.

This is a wonderful place. The nurses and staff couldn’t do more to make us happy. My Father was looked after wonderfully well in his final days. The whole Hospice is clean and modern with private rooms for their patients. They should all be very proud of the wonderful environment they’ve created.

My stepfather was impeccably cared for during the 4 final days of his life. The nurses were just amazing - caring & loving, and so too were the doctors. I can't thank you all enough for making such a painful time so much more bearable. We will never forget you all.

Nobody wants to be in the position where going to Oakhaven is the solution but if you are then this is the very best place to be. My father recently (06/17) died here and throughout the whole experience we were supported and helped. My dad was mostly asleep and on a lot of medication so unaware during his last week but they treated him as if he could feel, see and hear everything. His care could not have been better and it was moving to see them working with him. They allowed myself and my mum to stay 24/7 with dad and we did for 7 days and they even let my parents dog stay, with certain rules, meaning some sort of normality could be maintained. The care they gave my mum and myself could not be faulted as they couldn't do enough for us. Every step of the way they told us what was going on and what we might expect to happen, so as things changed we were ready. You will need cash as tea coffee is 50p a cup and they do offer meals to buy for visitors, very good they are too. Although not expensive at all it can mount up over a few days. Of course I assume the patient doesn't pay. They will take food to the patient and the choice of foods is great. All day you could have sandwiches and salads, the salads are huge, and at lunch you can have hot food. They cook chips and jacket potatoes and other bits and bobs (don't eat meat so I didn't really have much else)Available all day are: sandwiches, pasties, crisps, chocolate, home made cake, biscuits, salads, tea/coffee, fruit. They have hot options at lunch time. All cakes, pies etc are made in house and are great, what I ate of them anyway. The staff are uniformed so if you know the colours you know what level you are talking to. All the staff, whatever level, were able to say what was going on and answer questions and did! We liked each and every staff member except one but they wasn't their problem and at no time did they behave anything but professional and thoughtful, it was just a slight issue for us. We felt this one person could have handled some issues better and they put us on edge a bit.The rooms all look into the garden and have access and seating outside. Lovely if the patient is able to get out. Each room has its own bathroom which is as homely as they can make it. The beds are airbed so cutting down on discomfort and the mechanism that runs them is very quiet. Lighting can be by lamp and the big hospital over head ones use kept to a minimum.TV in the room and the colour scheme neutral but not boring.A good mix of ages for patients and the grounds seem to be in constant use by visiting groups of the gardeners, all without being disturbing. One day we had the doors open and could here the chatter of young children which was lovely. If you or your loved one gets offered a bed here I would say snap it up and they will make the last but of life as good as it can be.

During the first visit to oakhaven, two volunteers worked at reception and they were lovely. We were shown to the room our grandmother stayed, and the times we visited, the nurses were wonderful as were the healthcare support staff. We felt it was warm, cosy and inviting and you couldn't wish for anything else under the circumstances our family was faced with; I can only imagine its the same for other families also. Thankyou so much. Keep doing the great work.

My father recently spent his final days at Oakhaven. My family and I can't imagine a better place for him to have been cared for. Such understanding and skilled staff - from the early stages of care at home, through the rapid admission. Wonderful. Thank you so much.
