I would give this place 6 stars if I could. When I went there met a lovely young lady who listened to exactly what I wanted. Went into stock and picked out exactly what I (and my wife) agreed to on Thursday afternoon. Tried on and they needed adjustment which the seamstress carried out free of charge and picked up good to go on Friday morning. 100% recommend and I will return.

Kyle and Conor made me a kilt, in our own tartan, for my sons wedding. Due to the Covid restrictions and me living in France it was all transacted remotely. The results were simply fantastic. I am delighted to recommend the guys at Dalkeith for their attention to every detail, their response times, their pleasant manner and their overall service. Top drawer in every aspect. The guys at 8Yards are impeccable with the detail they offer and advice as to how you can create something truly special. I am getting married but not until next year however decided to be proactive and start researching bespoke kilts. I was recommended the guys at 8Yards and from the very first meeting I just felt they were the right fit. They couldn't have been any nicer and there was no hard sale from them which my partner and I liked as they were honest and willing to give advice and expertise knowledge free of charge. I originally spoke with Hamish but having been helped out along the way by the whole team and especially Kyle and Hamish we all agree that not only has the process been enjoyable but the end result is unbelievable and I am super chuffed with my kilt. I would not hesitate to recommend the guys and there team and only wish I was able to give more than 5 stars as they have truly far exceeded my expectations. Best Kilt makers by far for the full package they provide in my humble opinion. I was looking for an unusual Christmas present and this company certainly had a very good selection of the type of things I was thinking of. I purchased a cushion!! Not very imaginative you may think , but it met all my expectations. Even better than the web image. Superb detailing, a really lovely picture and as a bonus, a brilliant tartan backing. Very very pleased with my value for money purchase. We WILL be returning!!

Got in touch with 8yards back in May 2021 and got in touch with Kyle Swadzba in the Dalkeith store. Kyle could not do enough for me! We have collaborated back and forth via email, designing and making custom tartan accessories for my pets, supplied myself with few additional accessories to match my kilt and also made a custom baby tie for my nephew of 8 months old to allow him to match in with the wedding party dress. Kyle was always very respectful, polite and considerate to what I wanted, not rushing the process at all. I also made some changes and he fully accommodated those without hesitation. Highly recommend 8Yards and will definitely return if I need anything in the future.

An amazing experience from start to finish!My partner and I had decided that he would have a kilt outfit made for our wedding, which he would also wear for the Chinese tea ceremony in the first half our big day. It was truly love at first sight when we saw 8 Yards' Claret Hunting Scott outfit at the wedding show last year. Everything from the tartan choice to the burgundy sporran and paisley detail inside the suit jacket makes the kilt outfit the perfect Scottish alternative to the traditional groom's outfit worn in Chinese weddings. We just love it! And Kyle at 8 Yards has been brilliant, accommodating us out of hours on Saturdays at their Eskbank warehouse to do the design, measurements and fitting of the outfit. He has a really good eye for detail and helped us to choose accents and details to add to the outfit that has made it that bit more unique and special. He even passed on photos of the kilt being put together by the seamstress Karen during lockdown, which will definitely make their way into our wedding scrapbook.Absolutely top quality in every way!

Having visited their Haymarket branch yesterday for a kilt fitting, I can honestly say Peter is a gem!When we arrived, we were greeted warmly, they were expecting our arrival and had garments ready to be tried to ensure the best fit.Peter was knowledgeable about tartans and tailoring of the outfits, as well as which products would complement each other best.We were shown options and fitted whilst easy conversation was flowing, Peter was courteous, friendly and cracked a good joke or two!If you are considering kilt hire in the Edinburgh area, I definitely recommend visiting 8 yards!George Gilchrist-Grodnicki - Director - Edinburgh Wedding Directory

The service at Hardengreen has been excellent. I phoned the morning of my son's graduation in Glasgow as he had lost his tie for his kilt outfit. Conor was extremely helpful as he was when we bought the whole kilt outfit from him a couple of years ago. He let me borrow a tie overnight as they did not have exact match of tartan tie in stock. I then ordered the new tie, which I collected yesterday. All staff are friendly and helpful. Thanks again Conor for saving a great day!

Absolutely top quality and service in all ways! My husband had rented from 8 Yards before and the quality and selection brought him back to have his own kilt made by 8 Yards for our wedding. The attention to detail and precision of the custom made kilt was impressive and resulted in the most perfect fit. The beautiful, modern tartan he selected is 8 Yard's own and the quality of the wool is exquisite. Once I saw it completed I asked if they could create a matching cloak for me. Although they had not been asked to do this before, they undertook it with enthusiasm and the amazing seamstress Irina worked with my ideas, designed and created the most gorgeous cloak I will cherish and wear with pleasure for years! Brilliant service from Conor at 8 yards for my wedding outfit. Conor was very patient and helpful whilst I tried to make my mind up about tartan choice for my trews.
