Centre Bastion or if your a local Foxes Forest is a truly a beautiful place. It has meadows, grassland, wetland and forest all close to the sea shore.Though it's called foxes forest, do not expect to see any foxes. Dog walkers are rampant here, so dog mess and plastic bags are all over. You can have a good walk here. A short circuit takes about 30 mins though a full walkabout can take many hours. You need food and water here as except for some raspberries bushes there's no food here, nor water outlets, the nearest shop is a garage to the west.A good amount of birds are here though none too rare and not many other animals.Though very beautiful with some stunning views, whatever the weather, there's plenty to do. With lots of surprises to be found. The place with some investment could be so much more than what it is now.3 Stars with the potential of an easy 5.

This is part of the old fortifications of Portsmouth. Now an Ancient Monument, the whole area is accessible to the public.

Wonderful Ancient Monument as part of the heritage of old fortifications.Paths by the creek through the wooded area are really well maintained and looked after;with benches and bins on main path.Lovely green area sandwiched on the edge of Portsea Island just before the Mainland. To see Bastions;it's best to be on the other side of main path by the creek;as an example when you get to Hilsea Lines you can walk under ramparts and get to other side and then easily view the various Bastions.More information available on portsmouth.gov.uk website and look for either Parks or Hilsea Lines.
