West Park
This nature reserve/ park is a great place to be and walk around.theres plenty of seats along most paths now with all the trees growing up and the wild flowers all around this park its a lovely place to be. The only downside is in wet weather the paths become very dirty on your clothes and dogs

West Park
A lovely place for frequent dog walks with plenty of space for them to roam off the lead. Just be careful of not losing site of them withing the groups of trees. And there's a cyclists path going around the park and and bike area inside if that's more your thing.

Great place for walker and cyclist. It's the first place we visit on our cycling travels. Always have our packed lunch here, before riding over to the black path towards town.

West Park
Nature reserve that used to be owned by a pharmaceutical company. It's extensively landscaped to create a nice, secluded place to walk you dog or go for a walk or run. There are bins and dog waste bins around the park, which you're encouraged to use! Mostly people do use these bins, but there are one or two people who still refuse to pick up after their dogs, which is annoying for those that do and for people who want to enjoy the park without litter and dog fouling. The walkways are compressed limestone gravel, which is a strange choice for a park: when it rains they ways flood. This leaves you walking through chalky, wet mud that splashes all over. They've added extra French drains over the years but it still floods in places. This is a nature reserve so it's supposed to be overgrown, but the grass is usually cut short twi e a year for some weird reason, usually right when insects would be most reliant on it. For a nature reserve it's not managed well at all - it's a shame the Friends of West Park don't get proper advice on running a reserve if that's what they want to have here: as it is, and hedgehogs or wildlife living there will always be disturbed by the maintenance, which is always done at exactly the wrong times of year.As a park it's a lovely place, it's got a microclimate that makes it warm and relatively wind free, even when it's quite cold outside the park. In winter it's amazing, especially if it's snowing. There are some interesting stone sculptures and 'art' pieces- a large iron ring in the middle; maps at entrances and exits, etc.

Didn't know that this place was so pleasant, nice walks and a good reminder that Darlington is a special place to be.

Lovely walk out. Could do with dogs bins around the walk and not just at entrances.
