Student Roost - St Davids

Any problems with your room, kitchen or flat overall has to be addressed via email. It takes a long time for anything - IF anything - to be done. The rooms are always warm, much warmer to the end of May going into summer. There is only ONE window in the kitchen, maybe two if you’re lucky. No air ventilation AT ALL. Only the one window. Same in your room. Only one window, no other sources of air ventilation for fresh air or airflow. The bathroom has ventilation for steam when showering. If your room faces inwards to the courtyard, you can hear EVERY single WORD and conversation people have when it gets dark outside. I have to call the reception, between 11PM to 3AM, to ask people outside to be quieter because confronting them myself has never worked (they decide to continue or speak much louder). Often times they take their time to go and ask them to be quiet or to move into one of the common rooms. Which I understand because they’re only supposed to be receptionists which leads me to my next problem.There is NO security AT ALL on site, only receptionists. The reception is open 24/7. A FEW, maybe only one or two, of the staff have shown attitude and speak rudely which is unappealing because their job is to help and make sure you are comfortable and feel satisfied with this service. The main gate has been broken for maybe two months now and they still couldn’t manage to fix it. I don’t know which staff members would be responsible for getting it fixed but the process is clearly very slow.Student roost seems to always be advocating for mental health but I witnessed something serious while I was waiting in the reception. They just told the person to EMAIL them back with the problems they were having, because they’re ‘receptionists and there’s not much they can do’. I just think that’s embarrassing for this company. I don’t know anything else about what happened but I hoped they have sorted it out.They do have a little cinema room and a common room with a pool table and a ping pong table. They also have a study room. Also a laundrette.

The best place to stay during your study at Swansea. Well organized.

First impression gives a welcoming environment, easy to settle down and meet people. Very responsive staff and consistently helpful throughout the whole year. Everyone is really friendly here and made living here a treat. Would recommend!

PROS... the gym is free, albeit very, very small. There's a lot of spaces for studying which is nice. The kitchen came with quality appliances.CONS... Windows aren't allowed open past a few CM, so my room is far too hot 24/7. The lack of trees/structures in general in the courtyards leads to an unpleasant 'sound corridor' where all the sounds in the road echo along the courtyard walls, making it sound like cars are going past my window. Having no mops, brooms or hoovers is quite annoying, but my main issue remains the sound. There are fire alarm beeps that go off every 30s 24/7, and as far as I can tell, the fans in my bathroom run non stop. Feels a bit like living in a prison, which for £155/week is not exactly what I'd anticipated.

I am in love with this place. It is my second year at Student Roost -St Davids. The staff is cheerful, accommodating and kind. I find my room to be spacious, comfortable, well lit and ventilated. I get the best of both worlds, i.e. privacy in my bronze ensuite or many opportunities to interact with new people, make friends and make the most of my university life. My favourite places are the study room, the social hub, the theatre room and the gym! ( in that order)Kindly scroll down, and you can find a picture of the breathtaking view from my room’s window.

Stayed here for the first year of university, and overall I'd say it was a good experience. I met lots of people through Student Roost who I wouldn't have met otherwise, which I am very grateful for. The rooms are very secure, and there is plenty of space for belongings. The accomodation is a little bit expensive, even with the cheapest option. Make sure you read up on their cancellation policy as once you've entered the contract it's difficult to get out of.

Good except they use circuit laundry, the worst laundry service in the world. Most of the time it just wont work for you. Truely truely terrible. They should remove all circuit equipment its just so bad. Frankly the fact that they are willing to use a service with such a low trustpilot rating is embarrassing.

Useless staff - Gym has been closed for over 3 months now, just a lazy printout saying We are working hard to restore the gym" - would not be acceptable in any other decent place.Just like the gate that was broken for half a YEAR - keep your expectations at zero. Better to go with Seren or Oldway instead!!"

The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the on-site facilities are decent. When I had issues, the maintenance team was quick to help after I emailed them. I appreciated Nia and Olena, who were always kind and helpful whenever I needed something.However, there's a middle aged blonde lady with long hair at the reception who's been quite rude to residents. I've personally experienced her snapping at me when I went to ask for a parcel, saying she was trying to eat her dinner. Her response was rude and uncalled for, as I was nothing but polite towards her. I would hate for anyone in the future to be treated the same way. I've witnessed her treating other residents the same way, and I'm aware that others agree with this.There was a misleading incident where everyone was sent out emails in October saying “come down to reception to claim your free gift!”. When we went down, they made us rebook rooms for next year by just filling in a short online form on our phones, assuring us that we can change our minds later, considering it was only October. Turns out, we entered a legal contract and couldn’t back out! This was deceptive, unfair, and we were taken advantage of.

The best student accommodation in swansea. Very friendly staff and the rooms are upto standard. I love the entertainment amenities set up around the apartment blocks. The study rooms are also very functional and warm. I would recommend any international student looking for accommodation to check out St. Davids as there's value for your money.
