Walrus Statue
Life-size walrus bathing beside the pond across from and on the opposite side of the pond from The Winter Garden glass house.Erected in 1999 and created by Andrew Barton. A tribute to Lewis Carroll's The Walrus and The Carpenter poem. Sadly, the commission money ran out for the carpenter to be added. The statue, presumably bronze is a quirky individual and looks magnificent next to the rock doves (pigeons) pecking for scraps around it's flippered limbs.A great photo opportunity for children and adults alike.
