Hunters Hill quarry
Don't really want to praise this place too much as the car park is not huge, but for a well maintained series of paths this old quarry is unbeatable. The views from here on a good day stretch from the hills of Wales to the Lakes, plenty benches to rest awhile and new strong picnic benches down in the quarry. For a family ramble or a quiet stroll this place is just perfect.Enjoy.

Decent views. Free car park. Good parking spot for walking up to Harrock Hill, the historic windmill and the trig point.

Hunters Hill quarry
Hunters Hill, tis lovely up there with great views of the Ribble valley plain, but big changes have occurred.I'm told that, unfortunately three quarters of it was sold to a wealthy family to build a mansion set into the very beautiful quarry with lake and tall crags, which you can no longer see or visit. What you can just see looks like a James Bond's villainairs gaff, bristling with CCTV and floodlights. There has been some planning gain with money spent improving the paths and access to the miniscule part of the site remaining for the public. But this does very little to mitigate the loss of a lovely and much loved amenity We will not be returning. This maybe, is what the new owners may be hoping for.
