We had an amazing time climbing in peak district with Jim! It was our first time outdoor climbing, and what an amazing experience it was.Entire day was a blast, filled with funny sories, laughter and loads of climbing.100% recomend to anyone who is serious about their climbing or is looking for a fun day out.Thank you for an amazing day!

Ed is an excellent and knowledgeable instructor. We are really glad we went to him to learn the skills to begin leading trad routes.We had two days at Symonds Yat. The first day we looked at gear placement and anchor building and did a dummy lead on a top rope. Ed was extremely thorough and patient. The next day we both did a couple of live leads with Ed hanging next to us giving advice and support on gear placement and anchor building. He read our ability really well and tailored us an amazing learning experience.We finished the course feeling confident to put our new skills into practise this summer. Ed has recommended some crags for us to check out. We will be in contact with him again when we are looking to learn to multi pitch.Can’t recommend Head On Out enough.

I recently attended the beginners outdoor lead course and had the best day. It was a long day but it flew by and Jim our instructor was fantastic. I had never climbed on lead outdoors and there were so many new things to take in and a few new fears to face. Jim explained everything so clearly and was extremely patient that by the end of the day I felt that I learned so much that I now feel able to go out and practice my new found skills with confidence. Jim’s climbing experience and knowledge are vast and we picked his brains on everything from shoes to knots and he was extremely helpful. Just to round things off perfectly I received an email the following day with the list of all the routes we climbed, information for the future and some great photos of the day. I would recommend Head On Out to anyone of any level looking to improve their existing skills or learn some new ones.

We had an excellent trip to Stanage Edge with Jim - a fun group but also things were explained well for us as a group of relative beginners, and the whole experience was really enjoyable!! I found it to be a great introduction to outdoor rope climbing.

I genuinely could not recommend Head On Out more. I went on a outdoor climbing day trip with Ed, the owner of the company, and three other folks. It was amazing weather (which I am very thankful for!) so we went to the Peak District in Sheffield. As an international student in London, having access to a ride included in the trip's price was extremely valuable!I have climbed indoors for two years, but never had the opportunity to try trad climbing. My group's skill levels varied, but Ed did a fantastic job not only ensuring everyone's climbing+safety needs were met, but also truly making sure that EVERYONE had a good time, which I highly admire. He was kind, knowledgeable, communicative and patient.When searching for an outdoor climbing experience as a solo client, I had a really hard time finding something that met all of my needs that didn't cost an arm and a liver. Head On Out was perfect - a ride and gear was included, leaving from London; climbed in an incredible location, was an amazing price, and I was able to join a group instead of having to book a private trip.Even though it was just a day trip, my whole perspective on climbing has changed. I am so grateful that I entrusted Head On Out with my first outdoor climbing experience and had the BEST TIME. Once again, I highly highly highly recommend going on a trip with Head On Out and I truly thank them for providing me with this experience of a lifetime.

Joined Ed for the Learn to Lead outdoor course and had a great evening of training at The Reach Climbing Wall Friday, followed by a sunny day out in Portland Sunday. Went through all the required kit/procedure to thread anchors safely as well as a bunch of other helpful stuff. Was nice to be able to put the training into practice on actual rock with Ed supervising at the anchors. Everything you need to get outside if you are a competent indoor leader. Great stuff, excellent banter, ended the day with some fish and chips. Highly recommended.

Over two weekends we were taken to Portland for an introduction to lead climbing course. We were led by Jim. These were truely two of the funnest weekends i have ever had, Jim’s an outstanding teacher and an even better hang, he is amazing at breaking everything down in too thoroughly digestible ‘Jimism’s’ as my brother dubbed them. His knowledge of all the crags in the area and it seems round the whole uk also seem unmatched. I could not recommend going for a climb with him more. An experience I will cherish and we will be back for many more next year!

Really excellent day out and highly recommended. My girlfriend and I joined Jim with two other clients, all with indoor experience but minimal outdoor experience, for a day trip climbing in the Peak District from London. Instruction and guidance from Jim was fantastic who is a wealth of climbing knowledge. His experience and expertise was extremely confidence inspiring. Would highly recommend.

We had such a great experience with Jim from Head on Out! Such a great teacher and climbing guide. He was really helpful with all stages of our climbing trip. He was knowledgable, patient, and great fun to spend a couple of days with. He helped our crew of 4 develop some great skills and his organisation and foresight enabled us to have a really great time, learning loads of new things which have benefited my climbing immensely.
