I used this hair salon multiple times before lockdown in March and multiple times since and have never received bad service until last week. I had gone in to have a dark root colour lifted after old growth had come through and I decided I didn't like dark and a toner placed all over, prefaced by the fact that I didn't want the rest of my hair bleached as it was already dry and damaged. The technician started by placing what I assume was 40vol bleach over my roots, and by roots I mean the fresh root growth and the darker grown out shadow root at the same time. This was mistake number 1. This would leave me with obvious banding and at risk of scalp burn. I was aware the dark may not lift fully but to bleach virgin hair and a dark brown at the same time is ludicrous. This was on my scalp for over an hour, during which time the salon got busy and I was removed from my seat to sit next to the cold window in the waiting area. This was mistake number 2. Everyone knows bleach requires warmth to work well which being cold would actively inhibit the lift they were trying to achieve. After about an hour and 10ish minutes they finally decided to wash the bleach off my roots, and informed me they would like to do a 'non-damaging soft cleanse' to my hair to fade out some old toner buildup. Ok? Seems legit. Turns out this process is actually the basic equivalent of a bleach bath. Peroxide and shampoo. On my already damaged hair that I had requested before they even started I did not want bleached. I was already aware my hair was very damaged to begin with so this was mistake number 3. And a costly one at that. After washing this bleach bath off my head and sitting me down my hair looked like wet dreadlocks and the woman lifting my hair to dry it was seriously hurting my scalp at this point. I had been burned quite badly and my hair was elastic and snapping off at the ends. Out of the 4h I was in this salon, I spent about 2 crying over the state of my hair. My technician, although she made these mistakes was lovely and the only reason I'm not giving a 1 star review. She assured me I wouldn't be leaving until I was happy with how I looked, however someone I can only assume was the manager came over and told me that basically my hair was dry (yes it was but there is a difference between dry and elastic), that I had agreed to the 'non damaging cleanse' so any damage was my fault, and that they only used the highest quality products but that I was being a problematic customer. She argued with me over how my hair would feel better once the toner was on, which also uses developer so how this would make my hair at this stage better I don't know because developer contains peroxide, and that dryness was to be expected... While I was pulling off clumps of my hair that was springing and snapping in my hands. This was mistake number 4. I was being blamed for a process I was told was non-damaging damaging my hair. I will never use this salon again. The toner was burning me as soon as it was applied and I raised this concern to the technician but at this stage it was basically risk further burn or leave with white and yellow hair. I was charged 62 instead of the agreed 80, however I still feel this was far too much as the cost to fix the damage done in terms of colour and breakage will be much higher at the end of the day. I should not have paid.

I go to slaters on a regular basis I can’t fault the staff or the service I get there. They go above and beyond on every visit making you feel fantastic when you leave no matter you get done. Even if salon is busy they always have time and the service never feels rushed. Thank you ladies keep up the great work

Nice people but the lady was rough washing my hair, the products were not what I am used to and the styling not to my taste. I asked for a blow dry with volume, unfortunately I didn’t get this. I wouldn’t use the salon again but to reiterate the staff were lovely.
