The University of Law
Starting my masters in cyber security and data governance this year. I did my Bachelor with them as well in business management and digital marketing. So far I had a good experience. Teachers are very passionate and they love their jobs. They are always looking for ways to make classes interesting by having group projects. I gave 4 stars because the administration team of the university is not good. I got my timetable 1 week before starting classes...they are a bit difficult to reach over the phone and talk with the right person for inquiries is not easy....and they don’t reply to emails fast. The administration of the university is a bit messy, they need better people to manage the university. Overall im happy with this university and I will recommend it to someone looking to study business subjects.

Awful place. International students STAY AWAY ! I was asked to submit documents for my CAS but had technical issue with their portal. I called to report this and was asked to email the team, which I did and never got a response. Instead, I was told days after that I had missed the CAS deadline and my place was deferred. Mind you, they did this in August when I had ample time to submit a visa application in time for the October start. I am now asking for a refund on the fees I paid and have been in limbo for a month despite being told it would take 7 to 10 working days. I have tried calling only to be put on hold for hours at a time before getting an automated response ending each call. Terribly inefficient place, I wish I could give them 0 stars. International students please beware!

Probably the worst university in the whole UK. I paid my prepayment fee £3000 2 weeks ago via bank transfer but my application portal still says fee not received yet. I have emailed the finance team twice in the last week and they haven’t replied once yet. I’ll also be complaining about Ulaw wherever I can to help other students not choose this university.

They do not reply to students’ emails. On the rare occasion they do, they ignore everything you’ve said and go off on their own tangent replying to a completely different context. There is poor communication amongst the teams - each time I call in to make enquiries, someone different gives me a different answer. Everyone has different information about the same thing. The concessions/mitigating circumstances procedure is terrible. At my previous university, the concession was either granted or refused before the exam/assignment deadline. At ULaw, you only find out whether you have been granted the concession on results day - if you are refused, you are basically doomed. They constantly send emails asking for monies, which is very stressful. Unless all balances are paid and up to date, assessment results are not published. There are also barely any lectures. I have paid £13.8k for a course only to read from a book and receive the odd lecture here and there - at least the textbooks were included in the fees.Overall, I don’t have much positive things to say about my experience. Only good thing is the reputation, which means nothing compared to the poor service provided.

My experience with ULaw is definitely one of the disheartening deprecating jokes I tell anyone when they ask me about my experiences at this university. One of the main issues with this institution is the lack of diversity, unknowingly doing research of my own while beginning the GDL BPP and ULaw were one of the only considerations in my pool. Being as it may, I went with ULaw due to them seemingly being extremely proactive and advocating for international students as such that caught my eye seeing as I am caribbean and have never been in the UK before.I do believe in institutions being inclusive and I take a particular schools ethnic demographic seriously as it depends on my comfortability for making friends and study groups. Upon arrival, 1) I was the only black international student in my class, despite the fact I tried to make friends I was still met with racial statements from my classmates.. 2) YES, I did email my tutor and whomever else making them aware of my uncomfortable position and asked that they moved me to a class with more international students. 3) I was then told by such tutors that due to the fact the racial slurs happened off school premises that was not enough for me to switch groups. Issue 4) Seemingly upon arrival the university was ready to send my right back to my country, due to a lack of their incapable administration who deals with the VISA team.Issue 1) I have never in my life ever encountered racism towards me.. nor have I ever been in a class room where I was the only black student. I came into ULaw thinking there would be diversity and friendly faces..Issue 2) The tutors and teachers are equally extremely incompetent as they always reply days - weeks late, or doesn’t reply at all. They give extremely vague replies and overall not interested in the students.Issue 3) understandably they could not do as much due to the fact that this has happened off school campus, but either way if a student is bringing and issue such as racism - one would think switching classes would be one of utmost importance.Issue 4) I do not know what I would have done as I paid and secured nearly £20,000 dollars worth of accommodation knowing that during correspondence with the university they advised me all my paperwork was up to standard. To reaching there and being sent back home due to their incompetent VISA team, issuing too many CAS numbers.I would never recommend this university to any of my friends, families nor associates.. not even my enemies. I am now currently at BPP and have never been happier, the process was so much simpler.
