Salisbury Crags
Beautiful place with amazing view over the city and over Arthur seats. As you can see from the pictures I take, the view from up there is offering you an amazing view over all Edinburgh. I cannot immagine how it’s during night time or during the sunset or sunrise. Unfortunately I did not get this opportunity, but looks amazing. Suggested to visit as it is really nice, it’s free and it’s good for yourself health. 100/10

confused with the summit of Arthur's Seat itself - they look beautiful coming down the purple road from the top, and it is the fastest possible descent option. Hugo Arnot suggested in the 18th century that the name Salisbury Crags derives from the first Earl of Salisbury, who accompanied Edward III of England on one of his invasions of Scotland.

A really great alternative to the full ascent up to Arthur's Seat with little compromise on the views. In fact, this vantage point offers a closer and wider view of the Old Town and buildings on the Royal Mile. There are many, many paths criss-crossing across the east bank of the Crags so you have the freedom to choose a range of inclines and ascents.

Absolutely stunning place! Must visit to enjoy beautiful views from the hills. We only manage one hiland walk by the lake, as didn't have much time and I not the fastest walker. My advice is to visit during dry days, if you are as clumsy as us, because the ground and grass could be slippery. We both fell while walking down the hill on a wet December's day, luckily no problem, just a bit wet and dirty clothes. But it didn't spoil our experience. The beautiful views worth it.

One of the best places to get a view across Edinburgh City over the Pentands and Fife if you decide not to walk up to the top of Arthur's Seat. Best to avoid on windy days or days when there are strong gusts of wind as there are no fences or protections in place along the top of the crags. There are different paths along the back of the crags so you do not have to walk close to the edge if you do not want to. Do be sure to wear good walking boots as parts of the path are muddy and slippery under foot.
