I started with a 1-1 & learnt how to clean/maintain my sewing machine (which it so needed!) before choosing fabric for making a ‘Quillo’ for my husband. I learnt so much doing this. I now have several projects ongoing & bought a new machine so Sylvia has now shown me embroidery etc. & looking forward to further tuition.A very friendly, informed (so many tips & techniques) teacher in a lovely workshop where you get to meet some interesting people & I have made loads of new friends. Thoroughly recommend Sylvia’s workshops if you want to learn patchwork etc. etc.

Long arm quilting service.Sylvia completed my large quilt on the longarm machine after sharing advice about choice of design. My wedding gift for my daughter then had a beautiful finish . She inspires confidence and has created a workroom that is stimulating but calm and good humoured. We are a varied group of students who work in small groups and enjoy our time together. I made my first ever patchwork quilt and I decided to have it professionally quilted.I contacted Sylvia and we discussed my work and Sylvia guided me through what I needed to do prepare it for her long-arm quilting service.Once Sylvia had done her magic, I spent a session at her studio, learning how to bind and finish the quilt.I thoroughly enjoyed the day and I came away with my completed quilt and inspiration to try other quilting and sewing methods. Very talented quilting teacher. Very patient, suitable for complete beginners or more experienced sewers. Not just quilts either. My daughter wanted a star of the day cushion as she's a teacher. Much fun but lots of learning too.

Sylvia is a brilliant and inspiring teacher of patchwork quilting and a wonderfully creative person. Sylvia agreed to machine quilt my enormous quilt. She had to cope with a few of my minor mishaps but I can't tell you how pleased I was with the finished result. The quilt was bear paw blocks interlinked with the same size plain squares, all done in white and grey. She chose a suitable pattern which covered the white squares very nicely.I can honestly say that I would recommend Sylvia, she was in contact with me while the quilt was on the machine and she sent it back to me via Hermes. I can’t sing Sylvia’s praises loud enough. She has been so kind and patient in helping me extend my daughters cot quilt. It was a complicated project that I hoped to have completed and although she’d not done it in this particular way before, she was confident that she would be able to do it. And she did - BEAUTIFULLY! She was very forthcoming with her extensive knowledge and expertise and fully communicated with me throughout the whole process and consulted with me about my preferences and requirements. I am so glad I found this lady and forever grateful for her skills. I wish I lived closer so that I could attend some of her classes as I feel anybody could learn a lot from her, whether a complete novice such as myself, or someone with more experience.

Sylvia's studio is the place to be to learn and enjoy patchwork and quilting. She is a refreshing and patient teacher and will work with all her students to ensure that they learn the correct technique to produce a lovely finished product. The studio provides a calm atmosphere in which to sew - even when things go wrong - and her other students also offer good advice and support. I can't think of a more pleasant way to spend a day learning and sewing.
