Paws In Hand Dog Training and Behaviour

Fantastic online puppy training lessons. As a new dog/puppy owner I was amazed how much our Cockapoo puppy and myself have learned. Surprisingly the online aspect of the course works very well. Denise is a very knowledgeable and patient lady who knows her stuff. Picking up on just little things which make a big difference. Highly recommend her courses, will be signing up for the intermediate course.

I cannot recommend Denise’s classes enough and think all new dog owners should do them! Having gone through her face to face classes with our first dog, we were keen to take our new puppy through the same process. Due to Covid Denise ran “zoom” puppy classes and thank goodness for that! Excellent training, you learn so much more than the standard stuff and particularly important to understand dog body language.With online classes it meant that the puppy was more relaxed and able to concentrate better than in face to face classes with all the distractions. I can see benefits to both ways of working and plan to do more classes in future.

After trying my rescue at one training class that had far too many dogs I went to Denise. As a rescue dog I didn't want anyone to have any preconceived ideas. She was still young. Denise immediately looked at her and told me she had been beaten so we couldn't use hand commands until she had gained more confidence and trust. She also noted that praise was the reward for her as treats meant nothing. Both these things we were criticized for in the previous class. This was 14 years ago. I keep Denise's number in my mobile phone so I can pass it on to anyone who wants doggy advice. I vet I know says she wouldn't recommend anyone else. Anyone I have spoken to who has used her services say how good she is. Denise is so helpful if I'm having difficulty with a foster dog. I always trust the reaction of a dog to people and Denise is one that they show trust in. Rescue dogs can be difficult to read but Denise seems to be able to see beyond the outside show to the dog below. This woman has made life so much better for both dogs and their owners. Keep up the good work.

Denise is a fabulous dog trainer ... so kind , patient and informative. Her guidance via zoom puppy classes has made such a difference to training our very bouncy pointer/vizla cross and I can’t wait to enrol on more courses with her . I didn’t know how zoom classes would work with puppy training but they exceeded all my expectations. Highly recommend

We have a nervous and timid cocker spaniel. Denise is a true expert in her field. Her knowledge of dogs is second to none. Her calm, informed approach is great for dogs and people alike! It means anyone with a desire to understand more about their four legged best friend & their needs can succeed. Our dog and home is happier as a result. She was a game changer for us and our family. Denise helped me when I was at my wits end with my puppy. She recognised immediately what her issues were and what she needed to be a well rounded dog. My dog has come such a long way, I'm so proud of how she has turned out, she is still a work in progress but with Denise's help along the way, I'm proud to call her my super clever girl. Having worked with the Paws in Hands team training our puppy (Ralph) from just a few months old, I can say the training is excellent. It's clear to see that Denise has a real passion and care for all the dogs she works with, she's always willing to go the extra mile to help out - even when the classes have finished! Would definitely recommend!

Have attended indoor and outdoor classes with Paws in Hand, as well as puppy parties. All classes are well managed and dogs are treated as individuals, and given the space to progress at their own pace. Denise is extremely professional and well qualified and I would definitely recommend any of her training classes.

I first experienced Paws in Hand training classes 13 years ago with my gorgeous Pup, now a gorgeous old boy! I have recommended Denise throughout the years to many, many friends and also strangers with new puppies. I have remained in touch and watched her incredible results not only with puppies but with behavioural issues too. Denise is regularly on radio Solent and tv slots as she is such a recognised expert in her field. All puppies deserve to have their parents guided by Denise in order to have the best start together for their future.

Having successfully completed our first puppy training course with Jo at the Paws in Hand classes we were disappointed that the second course had to be cancelled owing to the lock down. We found Jo a brilliant trainer. Each session was crafted to encourage both Dougal our Border Collie and ourselves. It was wonderful to see Dougal develop from a very nervous 10 week old into a lively much more confident puppy! It was also great to meet up with other puppies and owners in the same position as us.We were keen to continue Dougal’s training and jumped at the chance of Denise’s Zoom training. Having mastered using the app (it’s very easy!) Its proving to be as good if not better than the actual classes. Denise’s wealth of knowledge is both boundless and priceless. We are able to get expert one to one guidance while also enjoying the group experience. This is backed up with really useful videos. Dougal is coming on leaps and bounds (literally)! We’re looking forward to continuing with Denise and The Paws in Hand team and would definitely recommend them to any new puppy owners.
