Nice big open space in a picturesque place. Wide pathways which is ideal in the present circumstances. Short or longer walks available also you can get off the paths into the wooded area. First time I had seen coins pushed into the logs. Think it's for good health not 100% sure on that though

Newmiller Dam
Newmillerdam is one of my favourite places. It’s great for all ages and all fitness levels. The stroll around the lake takes about 45 mins at a leisurely pace.

A pleasant walk around the reservoir can be done in an hour. there are limited free parking spaces at the corner of dam. the footpath beyond the reservoir may be wet and muddy especially towards transpennine trail.

Nice small circular walk. Paid parking available but can get busy. Toilets at the end of walk (but cost 40p). 2 dog friendly coffee shops on route. You can extend the walk up into the woods.

Beautiful woodlands carpeted with bluebells and wild flowers on my walk today the trees just getting their leaves on there are loads of different footpaths to walk plenty of wild birds I believe you can coarse fish permit required

An excellent place to unwind with family and friends just close to home if you are about in Wakefield.We walked the length of the dam and it took us a bit over an hour.The kids loved it and were delighted to have a treat of ice cream and dinner at the end of the walk at one of the restaurants.Will recommend.

Lovely place for a walk either on the main path or up through the woods which I prefer. Less people and less muddy this weather.
