It's a lovely little reservoir full of tadpoles in Spring but still lovely to go in the water which is very warm and beautiful scenery

Difficult to park, water is quite gritty, however its shallow and great for swimmers

Definitely wouldn't swim here. I was hoping to, but when I got here, there was smashed up glass, pottery, wrappers, bottles and random sinking road barriers. Smelt weird as heck- I don't know how people think this is a good wild swimming spot. The shoreline was just a mixture of squishy mud and degrading leaves.

I have been here so many times as a kid swimming, and just to relax and have a picnic.

It's a beautiful location. About 15/20 minutes walk down the canal from the train station. It is safe to swim in! It seems like a popular spot in the warmer months to swim. There are step going right down into the water to make it easier to get in. The water is murky, but clean. The water temperature does vary depending on the weather. But it is quite cold. I feel very very blessed to live close enough to visit regularly!I would NOT recommend it to very young children or non swimmers because it does get deep very quickly. And the bottom, other than the steps is either rocky or muddy.
