Great location for some stunning walks, & decent facilities. Eyam village is very picturesque. An interesting building, sadly it seems to be one of the ones that the YHA are planning to divest themselves of due to the challenging economy. Hopefully someone will pick it up as an independent hostel - we had great fun there.

Seeing a 10 minute walk up a bank to a hostel, you'd expect it to be worth it but honestly the rooms look like they haven't been cleaned that well. The ceilings have mold on them and the lights are just homes for dead flies. You couldn't tell who was actually staying there, the ladybirds clumped together up the walls or yourself. The showers had such an uncomfortable feeling to them and the toilets didn't feel that hygienic. Not exactly the greatest place to stay. Food wasn't nice either.

Fabulous location.Rooms are basic but clean. Everyone working was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was tasty. You are surrounded by lots of people and you will hear them, but the pay off is that you are in the heart of the Peak District, a beautiful location and well worth considering.

Very small private rooms, with no storage. One of the toilets was out of use so four rooms had to share one (single) toilet. (Up to 8 people).Clean showers. Good kitchen for self catering. Fantastic, quiet location. Central to some good walks and The Peaks.

Stinky, hot, blood on the beds, two plugs for 9 people and windows couldn’t open. There were only a couple toilets for everyone and the food was low quality. Highly not recommended,

I sure do love the abundant amount of flies in the lights, mould on the ceiling and bedsheets and dirty bedsheets. Aside from that, the food was mediocre and I was starving a couple of hours after eating. Also, 2 plugs between 7 (10 at max capacity) people is horrendous. The place is also just super inconveniently positioned - you have to walk a solid 5-10 minutes with luggage just to reach the YHA since coaches aren’t allowed up to the main parking lot.The only benefit to the place being so remote is the location, which is OK.

Wasn’t the best guys! Hope you can do better in the future yeah! Beautiful place though, kind of like my ex! But the service and rooms were average at best! Stay safe guys yeah!

Great location for this hostel with lovely walks from the doorstep. However, as other reviewers say, the rooms are very small. The kitchen is particularly poorly equipped (3 pans, no lids, no forks, hardly any cups or glasses), and things are in a poor state of repair (bathroom lights, red hot showers) or badly managed (no towels available to hire, no toilet paper). Really needs some love and attention!

Rooms were not particularly clean, ladybird infestation in multiple rooms as well as stained pillows, dead flies in the lamp and a hole in the wall. Four plug sockets for 6 people isn't the best either. Service was terrible as well, tried asking for another bin liner to keep the room cleaner for the workers and was completely ignored even after practically shouting. The location around is pretty if you ignore the roads and cars and walk far enough away. Having to walk up and down a hill because coaches can't go to the top everyday was pretty naff. Food was edible but not too enjoyable and to be honest water was the best part of the meal. Best part of the experience was going home.

Stayed here for around 3 and a half days and had a terrible experience the entire time. 15 minute walk up to the hostel from the coach because of terrible roads around the area. Mould growing on the walls and ceiling and blankets in the rooms disgusting. My room in particular had 2 plug sockets for 7 people (or 10 at maximum capacity) to share. Food was hugely underwhelming and not fulfilling at all. Not the easiest place to navigate and some rooms set out quite poorly. Many dead flies also spotted in lights on the ceilings, as well as spider webs and other insects found flying around. Walls between rooms paper thin to the point where you can hear regular conversations down the hallway even with doors closed. Only positives was free (but also weak) internet connection and the location being relatively remote and quiet.
