They look like angels, don’t they? Don’t be fooled! I’ve always had rescues. They often come with problems. Anyone who knows Jack Russells knows they are fun, but definitely feisty. Brie has pins in her legs but is pretty balanced behaviourally. Pablo (left), however, was terrified – of everything. And I tried – everything. Positive reinforcement worked to a degree – he’s no longer scared of people! – but the poor boy was still petrified of other dogs. Sadly some people will insist on letting dogs off lead in small spaces and though you try to avoid them, the inevitable happens. After much searching on line, I found Amy at Behind the Mind. Amy, with patience and a great understanding of dogs’ body language, helped me take that positive reinforcement forwards. I can now walk my two dogs together and Pablo and Brie are actually enjoying their walks. This is nothing short of a miracle and I cannot recommend Amy enough. We used Amy to help with our deaf rescue dog Brian who had a habit of screaming at other dogs. From the first session Amy made us feel so relaxed and reassured us that we could easily train him.Over the course of 4 sessions we saw huge improvements in Brian's walking and interactions with other dogs. We are really grateful to Amy for her services as we were struggling to find professional help due to Brian being deaf and a rescue dog. Would highly recommend!

We recently adopted a 9 year old cocker spaniel, and worked with Amy from Behind the Mind training to address some issues. The approach has given us a very happy dog and happy owners. Amy is brilliant and has helped us enormously with our dog who we rescued from a shelter at age 4.5 years; he was very anxious of everything (inc. the car), had no Recall" and was also very excitable - he is now a very different dog and we are thrilled with his progress. After taking on a 9 month old manic rescued border collie we soon realised that although we were experienced dog owners who had border collies previously, Ozzy came with issues we were not prepared for. Before we met Amy, we had a beagle pup who never stopped, and at times, her behaviour was very difficult to take. After some online research I came across Behind the Mind Dog Training and it is quite possibly one of the best decisions as dog owners we have ever taken. Not only did Amy change our dogs behaviour, she also changed our behaviour, and we began to understand how we were with our dog was enabling our dog to behave the way she did.
