The Zip Yard

I love this gem of a place. Have used it several times for various alterations. All staff’s work is first class but I have to give a massive shout out to Diyar who has worked his magic on my son’s work trousers. They had to be taken up, taken in the whole length of the leg and the cargo pockets had to stay in place! What a terrific job this polite, friendly and very mannerly young man has done. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Zip Yard and also Diyar.

Brilliant service, brought them in a old leather bag and while i suspect they though me mad for wanting the zip replaced, they did it anyway. Perfect job and you would not know that it was even replaced the stiching was that good

This shop had already became my go to place for miscellaneous sewing needs in Glasgow. Today they really went above and beyond though. Had a garment where a small bit of critical stitching failed on my first ware. I tried to quick fix myself but to no avail. The lady behind the counter heard my story, looked at the garment, and then fixed it on the spot for me - for free! Among other things such kindness truly made my day. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ is not enough!

They took up the sleeves on my Rohan jacket and at first when I got home I thought they had handed me back my jacket untouched. But it turns out they just made such a fantastic job that it was impossible to see the work. Very skilful piece of work - good as new.

If you need leather altered, avoid the Zip Yard for your sanity. I too a leather jacket in to have the sleeved shortened. Very positive reaction, paid £170 yead 170, and was told to return in a week. Duly did and was originally given two jackeys that we'rent mine. When my jacket was locatef, it hadnt even been started! They were going to call. Then the story changed to , they wete going to start it the same day. I got a refund and took the jacket to Alterations and Tailoring on 290 Great Western Rd and their attitude couldnt have been more different. For £65, almost a 1/3 of the cost, the sleeves are being shortened and taken in as the assistant felt they were also too wide.Avoid the Zip Yard for leather.

Disorganised. The girl at the counter doesn't seem to be able to decide anything without the boss who's never there. I gave in a dress. One month later, no notification so I called them and they had' done nothing with it having ( I think) forgotten all about itThe boss was out walking the dog apparently.

I had my trousers taken in and what a mess.A Simple task, how could it go so wrong?When I complained,the taylor,offered to do again,and I reluctantly gave him a second chance ,still not right,i don't think anything more was done.Still same issue the seam at the front of the trouser leg, and One leg is wider than the other.I was advised it was the material?Sorry I disagree,i would suggest,lack of skill and competency.. I could not recommend this Business.Warning! Do not pay upfront ,until you check, and are satisfied with the alteration.Nice man but in my opinion, this is not a competent alteration outfitters.I did get a part refund but the trousers are ruined.So be warned.And go elsewhere,there is cheaper and more skilled tailors in Glasgow.I have since spoken with the owner,Clark, who was very understanding and he has now refunded the purchase price of my trousers.Thankyou very much you for resolving this.

Just want to say a big thank you to the Zip Yard… dropped by a dress for a friends wedding on Saturday for alterations and had it back on Wednesday. Perfect fit, so much better. Friendly service and quick turnaround. Will definitely be back!

Went in for 2nd time, for an alteration and was met with an altercation!!! Genuinely perplexed at how huffy and unhelpful the main man was, expecially since their email from the Zip yard team, said yes we can do that! Tried to give them their place by asking since they were now saying they had no memory of having done same before, or seemed interested about the fact they'd asked me to return again with request.... then told me I was taking up too much of his time and to take my business elsewhere. I was totally aghast at his rudemess. Last time I use this shop!
