Disappointing 5* when it certainly is not. 160 rooms over 13 floors,just 25 sunbeds, dreary bar areas with no atmosphere. 4 passenger lifts but no service lifts causing long waits and overcrowding with service trolleys and disgruntled residents. Breakfast area is often overcrowded, crockery sometimes not properly cleaned. Failure of manager to respond to complaint about concierge who forgot" to ask a porter to help with luggage. Staff appear untrained and unfamiliar with standards expected in a 5* hotel. The rating of this hotel is invalid and reflects badly on local tourism and multinational package holiday companies. Best avoided."

Terrible. We booked a cab for 1pm and informed the dispatcher that we were going to our daughter's wedding so the timing was important. We were warned that they were busy, but promised priority. We were also told that we would receive a text 10 minutes before arrival to confirm the arrival time. As we had received nothing by 1 pm I called the office and was told that our driver was just dropping off his previous fare and would be with us in 5 minutes. Nothing arrived and in three further calls I was told the same thing. By this time it was 1.25pm and we were getting desperate as we would now arrive after our guests. The driver then arrived but said he had only been given the job 5 minutes ago. He was polite and very apologetic. On arrival at the venue he also offered the journey at no charge.On checking, I found I had received a text at 01.12pm. The inescapable conclusion is that the office lied to me on at least two occasions and really had no idea when our driver would arrive.

I ordered a wedding taxi via City Cabs and was delighted with the service we received! The taxi was beautifully decorated, arrived promptly and the driver was incredibly kind. Highly recommend to brides getting married in the city!

Very disappointed with the service from City Cabs this week. I booked a taxi more than 24 hrs in advance to take me and my family to the station to catch a train at the end of a family visit. Cab was booked for 11:30, at 11:35 when there was no sign of it, I called and was told that they were looking for a driver, no they couldn’t tell me how long it would take as it’s busy because of the Fringe. I pointed out that is why I booked 24 hrs in advance… Luckily a neighbour was able to give us a lift to the station as we would have missed the train! My experience with City Cabs has been good in the past - this was really poor.

We used the service to get us to Waverley Station to go home after visiting The Edinburgh Festival. The taxi turned up bang on time, the driver was very helpful and courteous, and got us to the station in good time. I recommend this firm highly.

My experience was impeccable. After creating an account, the app is very easy to use. Straight forward to book online and the cab showed up perfectly on time at the unholy hour of 3:45am to be get us to the airport. Gifford, our driver, was very professional and helpful.

My husband and I tried to book a car with another cab company for an early morning flight. The app did not indicate if our booking went through so we tried again. The app took us back to the first page again with no indication. We couldn’t take any chances so we booked with city cab and immediately knew the booking went through. The next morning the driver called and confirmed and was on time waiting in front of our vacation rental. The car was clean, the driver was a fantastic. The transaction went perfectly.

Brilliant taxi firm. Drivers were always early or on time to pick us up. Was very impressed after the Tattoo. Our driver arrived at exactly 23:30, which is when we ordered it for.I got back home and there was a water gala on only to be told we are busy it will be sometime in the next 30 minutes! (I'd ordered it the night before)Great service thank you.

Despite ordering a taxi, 3 hours before it was due, I was left abandoned in the city centre on my own for an hour after it was due, when 4 taxis failed to turn up and one sat in front of my house when he phoned me. The company says it takes the safety of people very seriously, rubbish.5 phone calls later, a city cabs driver, who wasn't for me, took me instead because I was in distress and on my own being harassed by strangers. I didn't get his name, but very grateful for helping me. Never have I ever been so let down by a taxi company and felt so unsafe. Terrible way to treat lone women at night. I even told them I was on my own and they still couldn't get it right.
