Fast and efficient service, a new girl was training who served us alongside another server and even the girl who was training was doing a good job.The food here is always incredible and good portion size. I had a starter, main and drink which came to about £20 so it's great value for money too

Such a lovely place decorated for Christmas lovely. We were having a family get together so 12 of us and we had to pre order at last minute as they forgot to ask us. Anyhow all okay until 1 person got their meal, I asked for no cheese and they brought it with cheese so didn’t read my pre order very well! We had nearly finished by the time it came back. I thought there wasn’t really a lot on our plates. I had smothered chicken very very small portion of chicken in a pan and a few chips. Some lettuce and cucumber that’s it. Lacked veg for me. All in all was lovely. Staff very pleasant too. I won’t let it put me off.

Mrs G raves about this place, so when it was time for a meal with the in-laws she chose here. My first visit, and it's a beautiful old building and positive first impressions. Good choice of menu. So why four stars you ask? For me, just a couple of points: The gravy - with the mushroom and ale pie - was far too rich for my liking, so I'm glad I tried it before pouring (it tasted too meaty for a vegetarian dish, if you know what I mean). After a wait one of our party had to go and find a server to ask for dessert, and the place wasn't that busy. Minor points in the grand scheme of things and nothing that would put me off returning. The in-laws were happy, especially as it was my turn to pay (over £100, with drinks, for the four of us).

Absolutely gorgeous pub.friendly and very approachable stuff Abbey especially was very welcomeing went above and beyond and give us a table in the areas that was closed very polite and helpful.thank you so much will be comeing again lovely

Lovely lunch with friends. Good meal choices for lunch including light bites, sandwiches or full main course. Staff friendly but not really enough staff for a busy lunchtime. Good value.

Visited for my brother's 40th birthday yesterday. We arrived and received a rather rude reception from what appeared to be the supervisor or manager as she was wearing a different uniform to the rest of the staff. Perhaps she was having a bad day but it made us feel rather uncomfortable. The lady told us we didn't have a booking, which in fact we did (it was just under another name) and didn't seem to make any effort to double check or resolve the issue. She then looked very disgusted and scowled at us when we asked if it was okay if we could please keep the birthday cake in the kitchen whilst we ate our meal (we had check well in advance to see if it was okay for us to bring a cake to the restaurant). She then seemed very put out when we asked if we could have the cake to sing happy birthday. Service was a bit slow and we kept getting forgotten about. Saying that, the man behind the bar was nice and polite and the rest of the waiting on staff were nice enough. Food was very good though so compliments to the chef! The tasty food and a couple of nice members of staff saved the day.

Normally I would give 4 for this restaurant as we've been a few times. But Sunday lunch was just ok. Too much gravy and I like to see my food not see it all squashed together. Also I think you need to change your sausage supplier. They weren't nice and not cooked very well.and we had similar prob at the Keys.However I would go again as I think the main prob is Sunday lunch both at Greaves and the Keys. All the other times the food was great.
