Joel has designed and made a bespoke sign and subsequently a permanent outdoor menu stand for my restaurant. The designs are striking and very well made and Joel took real care to understand what I wanted and to ensure he delivered it. The end products are both beautiful to look at and built to last. Excellent value all round.

Joel did an excellent job on our handrail; with meticulous measurement and skilled and creative craftsmanship- even working out how to create an iron bar copy of the tricky sailors knot we wanted ! He created a secure and flowing rail with a beautifully unique twist. We love it. Great work from a friendly, punctual, accurate and artistic craftsman. What more could you want.

We recently commissioned Joel to make a pair of customised railings for our front door steps. We had a very basic idea of design but he worked with us all along, including two site visits, to design a pair of beautiful handrails with a tulip design reminiscent of our front door. I would recommend Joel for any blacksmithing project. He has made several bespoke items for us, taking great care (and patience) to understand the brief, and sticking to the quoted price.He has made and fitted two gates to match the pattern of our existing wrought iron gates, with bespoke latches. He ensured that the pattern repeat was scaled to the size of the aperture and the finish matched the existing gates.The next project was a well cover. It was important to us that the cover was strong, in keeping with the period property and had a hatch so that we could easily use a pump to harvest the water. We chose a weave design of concentric circles, which Joel drew out and matched to the slightly non circular well for a perfect fit. The weave design was not without its challenges, but Joel worked these out with his usual care, attention to detail and good grace.Finally, Joel made us a metal cormorant. He spent a great deal of time working through the design, and kept me involved at every stage. The finished article was stunning, and exactly (better even) that what I had in mind. The cormorant was a surprise gift to my husband, and Joel kept the secret (and the due date).The last project was simple inexpensive bar over a gate to train a trailing plant. Joel took care to ensure that the bar fitted the curve of the gate and the slight wonky posts, and paid the same attention to detail for this small project as for the larger projects.In addition to these larger projects, Joel has a range of smaller items which are functional and attractive, and make great gifts.
