Burnham Nurseries Ltd

I had never tried to grow orchids until I ordered some from Burnham Nurseries (BH) . I'd bought an orchid or two from supermarkets with little success. I wanted beautiful cheery colour for the house after lockdown and BH were amazing. They advised me as to what would survive in Scotland and sent up carefully packaged plants in bloom. They were much healthier than anything you could buy in the supermarkets and the plants have flowered and reflowered their little socks off. I am now a fully fledged orchid addict! Definitely worth the money and BH pop in a care sheet for each type of orchid. As you can see from the photos, after following their advice, my house has been blessed with a riot of tropical colour!

They have the largest selection of orchid species and hybrids in England and just past Trago Mills turning on the right after leaving the A38 to Newton Abbot. You can sit under the orchids while having a tea and cake and take in all the colours. Just like being in Costa Rica. Oh nearly forgot and Dog Friendly :)

Update: My previous post was correct regarding quality of received goods, however, I did find my email that I thought I sent to the Nursery in my draft box so it appears it was never sent out. I appreciate the response from the Nursery below. They have also have refunded me some money from my purchase without my asking. I have therefore, upgraded from one star to two stars. It still remains low due to the quality of plants received, but customer service is good.Original post: I ordered four orchids. Two arrived with the bark almost completely disintegrated with fungus growing in it. When I repotted it, the bark fell apart in my hands which shows that it's had rotted and should've been repitted a long time ago. Another orchid I received and found a baby snail in it! Upon repotting another orchid I found a baby centipede in the disintegrated bark as well. I wrote an email to the company expressing my dissatisfaction with pictures and didn't receive any response. I will not be ordering from them again, even though the plants were packed and shipped very well.

Amazing Orchids this was our first visit, unfortunately I was going to purchase one but couldn't find where to pay. Maybe the staff were getting ready for closing. We also walked down to plants galore nursery ...Lots of healthy plants and Christmas trees for sale potted or pre-cut. Christmas decorations at reasonable prices...

Ordered 3 orchids which were stunning. They were packaged well and delivered promptly. Will be coming back for more in the future

Placed an order online for 5 orchids , arrived in superb condition and one is now in bloom just after a week of arriving. Will definitely be using them again without a doubt

Oh my goodness. Amazing place. So serene and relaxing. All the Orchids you could ever want. And so knowledgeable. You must visit the cafe. With a pond, waterfall and lizards! Surrounded by all the mother plants. Good value as well and the cakes are to die for. Honestly the best cafe I've been to.

Burnham nurseries is brilliant, I have been to orchid shows to see their specimens and visited their shop twice now. Every visit the staff are unbelievably helpful, accommodating and kind. Arthur is always so welcoming and you can tell how much they love what they do. Any occasions I have had challenges with personally caring for my orchids, staff have swiftly replied to emails with practical and helpful care advice when I am struggling. In addition, they provide free care sheets in store. It truly feels like paradise and a true treasure trove of beautiful plants. Prices vary depending on age and variety of plant, so there is something for every budget and environment. Not to mention the lovely coffee and stunning koi carp pond it makes a fab afternoon out. I will always love Burnham Nurseries and look forward to visiting again!
