Had the tragic misfortune of phoning the surgery today and speaking to a grotesque human called ‘Angela’. She was obstructive and incompetent and didn’t listen to me. She was like a spiteful little chihuahua. I was trying to make a gp appointment for my friend who’s struggling with substance abuse; his caseworker at his recovery program advised me to make one to make sure he’s well enough to do the medical detox. Angela was a complete cnut about this. She tried to obstruct him getting an appointment which is his absolute right. How people like Angela end up in jobs where compassion, communication and humanity are essential is a mystery to me. She should be a Tory MP or at least change her name to Adolf.

Arrived today for my appointment only to be told they'd booked it in at one of their partnering surgeries, another appointment was made. When arriving for the new appointment I then had to take my just turned 3 year old along with me which isn't a problem but I was then waiting so long that he became restless and ran off. In process of me getting up to get him to come sit him back down the receptionist rudely told me to either keep him under control or to leave. He had got only once!! How about you don't mess up people's pissing appointments & also leaving them to wait so God damn long to be seen.

The doctors are great but the surgery itself is a mess. You can't book appointments in advance and have to call up at 8am on the day along with everyone else. Expect to be asked to tell the receptionists all the details of your issue before you can book.If you want test results they will only give them to you between 11am and 1pm. After that you have to wait until the next day.The waiting room looks like it is rarely cleaned or maintained. The tannoys announcing you to enter are unintelligible. In winter they never grit the path, which can be a major danger for the elderly or disabled. In short, it's about the bare minimum they could get away with calling a surgery. If you can actually get to see a doctor they will do a great job but every aspect prior to that is just soul-sappingly poor.

Just really disappointing, have not once been able to make a drs appointment for myself my partner or his daughter. I’ve just rang them to say I need a prescription for an asthma pump and they’ve tried to send me to a&e (not having an asthma attack, just need a new pump) what’s the point in having a drs surgery that won’t see sick people?! Friendly enough staff but surgery as a whole is a shambles

Worse surgery ever! You can die and they ll never have anything available! I m struggling with my symptoms for more than a year now! I gave up trying to make an appointment. Last time I made one they forgot to put a request so I went all the way to there for nothing! And I strongly think that one of the receptionists (old lady, white hair) she s very rude and doesn’t take her job very serious, doesn’t have even a bit of empathy! Its been more than a year since i m trying to find where my problem is coming from and nobody helps me! I don’t understand how is this even legal! My mum is also trying to make an appointment for her problems, but same situation. Everytime we actually manage to get an appointment we re send to have blood done and then we re getting some iron tablets! That s all! You can’t do that just to get rid of someone where s the humanity?Horrible!

Awful surgery! A couple of good Doctors if you can get to see one. Reception staff are incredibly rude. Bad communication all round. Inability to follow through with serious issues. Awful systems that need revising urgently. Always dropping the ball with prescriptions. Misdiagnosing serious complaints. Not a good surgery at all. Avoid at all costs if you can.

I was sceptical of joining this GP due to the reviews but I had a good experience. Polite staff, only one in reception room and Dr Mervyn was professional and compassionate.

Today I called 24 times at 8am, with no appointments available. Then called back at 11:30, I told the receptionist that I passed out at 2:30am and I have an low functioning autistic non verbal son and need to see a doctor. The surgery manager Karen advised the receptionist that no appointments are available and that I call the ambulance if I pass out again. I didn't know how to take this so I went to the surgery, where Karen spoke to me face to face, she was cold and rude. I tried to record the conversation as I couldn't believe what I was being told... She then stated that I leave the clinic, I don't understand why this was as no poor language was used or any sort of harmful comments were made. she stated that they are not an emergency service...Anyway, her mannerisms were disgraceful as she had no empathy for the patients.I went to the hospital whom advised me to go to the GP and have blood tests done...surprise surprise no appointments available for tomorrow.I have never known a surgery that is this busy! Offloading their work to hospitals for things that they can deal with easily. Wasting tax payers money....

I’ve had the pleasure of visiting the Hawthorn Surgery today with my son and I must say I have never come across another GP such as Dr Arkley he was extremely polite was listening to us like he cares for his patients I didn’t feel like he wanted us in and out of the door without fully hearing us out Amazing GP practitioner. Both ladies at the reception desk were smiling and helpful as always.
