Amazing tapas restaurant in Manchester. It's very central, only 10 minutes walking distance from the Piccadilly gardens. I went there with a friend who suggested we try it. And it was a great choice. The staff are friendly and very quick at bringing our orders. The tapas were delicious. And the prices were great for the portions we ordered. It's a must to try while in Manchester.

What can I say? The food here is AMAZING (probably the BEST tapas in Manchester). Note the food here is Portuguese style Tapas and is OUT OF THIS WORLD. We went for the 3 for £18 offer (which is SO worth it - because it has so many options and varieties) and the staff were so friendly and patient. Between the two of us - we spent approx £40 for tapas which I can't say would be doable with the other tapas restaurants in Manchester! We will DEFINITELY be coming back here for another visit soon!Just go - you won't regret it!!

Upon arrival despite having a reservation, our table was not set and place setting and cutlery had to be placed after we had sat down. We were then left waiting to be served at which we were asked to order food before we had placed a drinks order. We ordered seven dishes a glass of wine and a cocktail. After a short couple of minutes our first dishes arrived before our drinks leading us to assume they were not made fresh for our dining that evening due to how quickly they were served. Overall we had all seven of our dishes served to us and ate within 15 minutes of ordered leading me to believe none of the food was fresh.Of these dishes none were particularly tasty, I have dined at your restaurant several times before knowing the standard of food usually served. We then sat with empty plates and glasses on our table for a further twenty minutes before I myself flagged down a waitress to order another drink who took our order and left our clearly finished, stacked up dishes and empty glasses on the table. A member of the bar staff came and removed our dishes and offered a desert menu to which we ordered an ice cream. It took longer to prepare the ice cream that all of the main dishes to be prepared, served and eaten. After spending over £100 on a meal for two I am extremely disappointed in the service and quality of food from Sunday night. It lead us to feel that as we were late diners at the end of the week we were unwanted and rushed as staff were eager to get the shift over.I have since emailed the team this complaint and heard no response very disappointing

Canto is a nice establishment but I wouldn’t say it was the best tapas/ Mediterranean food place in Manchester. Canto has a great varied selection of dishes that are available on the 3 for £18 deal that is available before certain times on weekdays. On this occasion we had the deep fried calamari, the meatballs and patatas bravas. All three were tasty, with the calamari taking the day. However, the portions were a little small, even by tapas standards, and most patrons would be hungry for more after all 3 dishes had been completed. In addition, I found the patatas bravas a little under cooked and not suggestive of the Mediterranean style you would expect. After debating whether to get another few portions of tapas we opted for desert - the tiramisu and some ice cream. Couldn’t complain about that at all! I would recommend Canto, with its friendly waiting staff and good environment, in the bustling cutting room square. However, be sure to be prepared to get a few dishes and have deep wallets to do so, as it’s not the cheapest.

Service was fantastic. Friendly and helpful.Food was amazing! couldn't fault anything about our visit.Luckily only a couple of 100 yards away this could become a regular food haunt for us and to be honest I'm looking forward to trying the whole menu over time.

Very nice setting, with pleasant service but some of the dishes are not worth the price you are paying for.Yes I know it 'tapas' so it is small dishes, but given the prices are more expensive than a real Spanish tapas , you would expect some quantity to go with what is very good quality and nice tasting food. So while it is served with a smile and looks and tastes great, you need to order 3-4 tapas per person. At Min £6 a plate, you can see how this easily mounts up. Be careful what you order , even with 3 plates for £18 lunch special. Not always great value.

While I loved this restaurant when I visited in March 2022 (and would have been happy to give it 5 stars then), standards appear to have taken a nose dive.We were there for a birthday dinner on a Sunday evening and the restaurant was not particularly busy… but I do wonder if they are understaffed. We arrived to the manager (??) on the phone, presumably taking a reservation. There was no acknowledgment that customers were standing and waiting. Another group had arrived by “mid phonecall”, so the “line” was building. Not a smile, a nod, a wave or even a look. Very odd… not the great first impression one presumes a restaurant seek to project. The two other members of staff who took our orders and served the food were nice and friendly . It was somewhat strange that the food appeared quickly, tables were cleared quickly, desserts appeared quickly… then no one asked about tea/coffee/more drinks. The desire to have coffee dissipated after 30min of waiting for attention… and we decided to ask for the bill. When the manager sat the bill down, I asked immediately for the card machine. Then it was more waiting.. and we had to ask for it again. We were finally allowed to pay almost 20min after asking for the card machine, almost an hour after finishing our meal.Food wise, it wasn’t as great as I remembered it to be… some of the dishes have clearly changed (new chef??). The ox cheek was excellent, the aubergine and gambas were good, everything else was pleasant enough. (Don’t order the squid or patatas bravas, those weren’t too pleasant really)For the price point, I expected better… and remember that they can do much better. Not sure what happened. Very disappointed and I don’t think I’d be going back.

I had an amazing dining experience at this tapas place! The food was exceptional and the freshness in its ingredients were really of good quality. The staff was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall enjoyment of the meal. However, I did notice that the external seating area could use a bit of improvement. The tables and chairs seemed a bit unstable, and at one point, our table almost tipping over. The overall experience was still wonderful, and I'd definitely recommend the place for its fantastic food and welcoming staff.

Waited 2.5 years before trying here and it certainly didn't disappoint. Highly recommended if you love tapas style meals. The cauliflower was recomended and what a great choice. Most certainly will be back.

We had a lovely afternoon enjoying their Tipsy Tapas offer - 3 tapas and 90 minutes of bottomless drinks. Delicious tapas with good veggie options - loved the pepper croquettes. My partner really enjoyed the squid. Friendly and helpful service.
