Fab little walk if a little muddy today. Views down to the Humber from some beautifully made benches. Good dog walking territory and off road cycling.

Seems The Little wold plantation think they own all of Southcave. The signs you have put up about mountain bikers not been aloud to ride is redicules. The part were the mtb are riding is own by my friend who also owns the quarry, you no that thing that you let huge lorrys run up and down the chalk path. I have spoken to the police who are not getting involved at the current time.People have been riding bikes there before you snotty old gits got here so jogg on!!!

Nice wooded area, maintained by woodland trust. Just on the edge of part of the Wolds way walking trail. Excellent for dog walkers, walkers and trail runners. Generally peaceful early in the morning and middle of the day during the week. However, if walking with children, please be aware that this is very a very popular dog walking area for locals so middle of the day is a good time, rather than the busy 8am to 10am period, and again to some extent late afternoon. Dogs free to run off lead, but again, some points for consideration. Small dog owners, especially the toy type breeds, if you stress about big dogs, so will your dogs. Mostly dogs just want to say hello but small dogs do snap more easily at other dogs (large and small), so it's not fair to blame other dog owners for your dog starting a snapping episode. Large dog owners, small dogs are prone to snapping because quite rightly, they will see a dog that is 4 times or so their size as something to warn off. If you have multiple or large dogs, be prepared and willing to call your dogs back to you and put them back on lead if needed, even if your dogs are usually gentle. Playfulness from a large dog must be very intimidating to a very small dog. Having said all of this, respect in both directions please. This is a public area for ALL to enjoy. If you know your dog is very playful, or snappy, or intimidated by other dogs, be responsible and put them back on lead. However, all things considered, dogs off lead, no matter what size will often be ok with each other much more than if one is on lead (feeling trapped and therefore more defensive). Also, dog owners, again, no matter what size or temperament your dog, if you see young children, put your dogs back on lead. It's only polite to do so.Middle of day weekends and bank hols can get very busy with families, dog walkers, please walk at other times, everyone should be able to enjoy the area.Trail bikers, please stay away from the paths. Horse riders, stick to the bridle path only please. Mountain bikers, please please please look where you are going and watch your speed. Families with children walk here and you can appear very fast from no where. None of these are in the woods often so it's unlikely walkers will come across them, but when they are they the impact can be higher, so it would be good if they can show consideration for people on foot. It's a lovely area, the regular dog walkers are mostly lovely people so feel free to stop one and ask about the area. Enjoy the views from the top of the hill. From the perimeters you can see for miles around and even as far as over the Humber to Lincolnshire on a clear day.Enjoy.
