Decent food, but very poor service.I visited yesterday and we were left waiting at the door for a full five minutes at least, while several staff members looked at us, before asking if we had a booking (we did). They then didn’t even show us to our table - they just pointed in the general direction (it wasn’t clear). There were several other issues with service being really slow and inefficient/forgetful. I don’t have exacting standards or anything like that - it was objectively really, really bad.The fish & chips were great. Pricing was fair overall, but I ordered two scoops of ice cream as the default is just one scoop for dessert. It was £4.80 per scoop so a tenner - £10! - overall for two small scoops of normal ice cream (see picture)!The staff were very nice, and friendly. However they were either woefully understaffed or just totally inefficient. Eventually a young red-haired man served us, just for paying the bill, and he was a positive exception in that he provided normal, good service. I still tipped 15% because if the staff don’t have good training, or enough colleagues, it isn’t their fault.

Just had lunch today to celebrate our 44th wedding anniversary and it was superb. The food was delicious and our waiter, Antonio was attentive but not intrusive. Although a miserable day the view from our upstairs table was spectacular!! We recommend this restaurant and will be back.

We enjoyed a lovely dinner last night. Atmosphere and decor are lovely. The staff are happy, friendly and enthusiastic. Although service was a little slower that I'd expect it was good to see the staff being given the opportunity to learn in such a fast paced environment. I'm sure within a couple of weeks it'll all be running super smooth as they find their feet and it'll be 5 starts all round. Photos of some starters of Gambas Fritters & squid, we also had the scallops. No photos of the mains because I'd inhaled it before I remembered. We had prawn Skewers, seafood pasta and Lamb. The Lamb was really beautiful. Dessert menu is limited but I wasn't dissapointed with the gelato cake! A great opening week and I'm looking forward to visiting again next weekend. Thank you to the staff member who warmly welcomed us and kindly moved us tables.

We came to Joppa rocks for lunch recently as we have been waiting this place to open almost 2 years. We were sat on the upstairs window area, amazing views and nice relaxed atmosphere.We ordered two of the 2 courses set menu and a kilo of mussels to share between 3 people. The food took a while to come out even though we were the only table in. I did message in restaurant advance to ask if the fish batter contained egg and they said no but it turns it did. Thankfully they were able to serve it without the egg but the information was misleading.The seafood chowder with sourdough bread was served tasty and hot. The chipirones fritos and the fish and chips were light and crispy, nice presentation. The a la meuniere and parsley mussels lacked a little bit of flavour and sauce but could easily be fixed.Overall the food in general is good quality and happy with that side. The price is on the higher side so only good for a special occasion or a treat. The service was abit up and down, the waiters lacked abit of charisma and attention. Didnt ask if we wanted to order more drinks or refill our water jug. We had to catch their attention and do all the asking, I know the team are young locals so that's understandable. I would considering coming again in the future and hopefully their will be some improvements.

Twice I’ve been & twice the fish has been over cooked and hasn’t tasted the freshest. Waiting staff are friendly. Food isn’t good. You get better fish & chips in Musselburgh.It’s the same company that own most of Portobello’s fish & chip shops. I won’t be back to any of them.

Won’t you love this view when eating? I had 21 GBP two course lunch during the week. Loved it! Loved the food, the view, the vibe inside the restaurant, waiters are young and handsome, loved the blue cups, loved the sky light, lemon bag is special, and I even loved the ocean themed restroom! Highly recommend!

Stunning views, particularly if you are seated upstairs. Food portions were a little on the large side with quite a lot of lettuce. Early days for this place, staff were friendly but still finding their feet. I will definitely try this place again.

The fried feta with broccoli alone was worth the trip. We had a couple of glasses of Albariño wine which was a treat to see on the wine list. The muscles were tasty and the scallops were nicely prepared and presented. Our server was very nice and attentive. Enjoyed our meal while looking out at the sea. A bit pricey but the food and location were worth it.

Quite seriously I think I've just had the best fish and chips I can remember. Fresh haddock full of flavour, crisp light batter, and chips of the kind of perfect consistency you think were merely a thing of childhood memory. The fact that I was at the shore listening to wind and waves just added to the pleasure. Staff friendly and interested. Selfishly glad it's not as busy as it ought to be! #bestfishandchips

The food is excellent and the staff very friendly. From inside the restaurant there is a beautiful view of the sea and Portobello Beach. Parking was not a problem and after lunch we took a walk along the sea.
