Castle Hill Gardens

Christmas lights....Really disappointing. The best part was the drive in and the walk up to the house. No food options, just the usual north Devon hog roast. Zzzz. A few craft stalls, with many not accepting card.

fantastic Christmas film experience ..loved everything about it. Lots of effort made with lights and decorations and warm welcome made it feel like a special experience and loved the popcorn, drinks and sweets as a nice cinema touch. The film was great and like being in a main cinema. Truly lovely and stress free start to December and hopefully a new family tradition is born (please do it again next year!)

Nice gardens, really lovely afternoon stroll, though woodland. Well worth the entry fee. Met the owners, very friendly.

Very enjoyable afternoon in a setting with fantastic views. Flower border garden still full of colour. Cafe was very clean and the cream tea was lovely.

What an amazing place we go to a lot of gardens and I have to say it's in there with the best .Stunning vistas how lucky people are to live here .The trees wow .Even it the rain it was magical .

Our first visit to Castle Hill and based on the 'unforgettable winter magical experience for the whole family' we had last night it will be our last. I understand their wish to start slowly & grow the event, unfortunately there was no event. We went up the drive, parked and did two circuits of the 'trail' thinking we missed something, visited the 12? stalls in the xmas craft fair, queued for a hog roast, all done 15/20 mins all done and away home.

From the first point of contact at the gardens the lady in the gatehouse was very pleasant and enthusiastic. We stayed for about two hours which enabled us to have leisurely walk round the estate with fantastic views.

Lovely but hilly garden with lots of interesting trees and shrubs plus features to hunt out along the way. Great cafe.

Brilliant and awesome walks with gentle sloping pathways that soared over the valley's views from the Castle folly at the top of the hill. Sarah, who worked on the reception desk, gave us a fantastic oversight of the house's Battle of Hastings family heritage, and how hard the family and minimal staff work to continue the venue's talents for all to enjoy. Enjoyed a nice hot chocolate after from Sarah's daughter. Then followed Sarah's directions as to how to visit the archway and temple across the other side of the valley. My teenage son really enjoyed the personal input from the friendly staff. Even met Lord Arun in his overalls, on his mini tractor buggy, working around the estate, even the we didn't know who the friendly gentleman was at the time :-) Wonderful.
